Oh yes it is expensive...it costs you 170c to produce it? That's crazy! It costs me less than 30c to produce steel. Something in how you're doing it isn't right, you should be making a LOT more money.

Coala: 170/kg is most probably your calculation mistake. even if you are buying coal and ore at insane 12.00/kg you production costs are ca. 112/kg (green) or ca. 122/kg (red). But even at those cost producing steel is not profitable in terms of return on investment. You should swich your production to something else for a while (chemicals

If you self-suppling raw materials using the proper net market prices for your own coal (9), iron (9) and power (0.07) you arrive at production cost of some 90/kg meaning that producing steel at the moment adds relatively small value to the raw materials you are producing. But there are worse business segments in this game.
