What does expansion of a facility do?

Hey,
I tried to find out wat expanding does for me. I figured out that I can hire more workers. But is their something else? And what do the workers do? I'm a beginner and I own a Grocery. Also I own a Fruitplantation, a well and a normal plantation. How can I make my Fruitplantation work faster so products can be delivered faster?

that is done by expanding the facilities at least 10 m

Theres an discusion somewhere in this forum about whats better expansion or buying a new building and I think the end result was build build build until you reach the building cap of 60 for non members and 100 for members then expand.

Unless its a research centre or store i think. hmmm must look for that

In Research Centers: Employees increase research speed
In Stores: Employees increase sale speed
