Duration of the next contest?

Post by Guest » 01.05.2009, 21:13

Hey fellow Kapiland-players!

This is your chance! Now it is your turn. ;)

According to several discussions in the past I would like to start this poll.
How long shall be our next contest? What do you think? What would you prefer?
Just vote and eventually post a reason for your decision. :)

Regards
GoldenEye

PS: This is only about the duration... no chance/need to talk about the contest-product. ;)

I totally agree with Lman360, I think that the constests should be shorter, like 5 to 7 days.

It is going to start when it starts. ;) In general the new contest starts on the Sunday after the end-friday.

About the duration... well... okay, a short contest will be taken into consideration the next time that a poll is going to be started. ;)

If the starting time isn't fixed, then the ending time certainly doesn't say anything about the duration

As I wrote: In general the contest starts on the sunday after the old one ended... ;)

In general, that's not totally conclusive, that's what i'm pointing out

But you highly anticipate that this is gonna start on sunday?

here is a suggestion:

make a contest with a end date but no hour. it will be a mystery, something to make the big guns sweat a little.

Put some risk to both suppliers and customers.

Some will win some will lose:)

About the start of a contest.
I like the way you do it.
On the dutch server they used to start at a fixed time and once there wasn't a contest and immediatly they started whining about there not being a contest.
Over here it everybody is waiting ant the waiting is a bit fun to me to and makes it fair to everybody cuz people can't just wait for the right time and get online and buy everything cuz they just don't know when it will be.
There is a beatifull 50 hour range.

About the duration, offcourse short is better.
But that isn't great either since then people run out of cash and contests just won't bring to much cash anymore.

Longer isn't great either, people would need to buy so much it would make price drop a lot to.
I think the 2 weeks is a nice period and doesn't need to be changed.

However, at some occasion some set of shorter contests can be nice.
Just like there was end of last year.
It makes the contest less predictable.

Also some occasional 3 weeks to make the contest fit into the admins scedule shouldn't be a problem.
Just make sure there is always a contest and i'm happy :)

So my vote: option 1.
But some variety would be nice :)

Hehehe, that would be funny and would make the stats more acurate, instead of the big contesters wait till the last minutes to drop all their load of goods.

I think it depends on the quality of the contest product.
Corn q6 should be 3 weeks long, oil q1 - 1 week, wooden toys q3 - 2 weeks and so on.

Shorter the better in my opinion, one of the best contests I've taken part in was a 3 day one (resulting from an error) involving a under supplied product causing the big guns to actually hunt for supplies.

I prefer longer contests personally-sure im less likely to win em and people can get more money but all in all it allosw people tro build up small empires around those products and it may become cheaper buying the product+research etc.

So as long as possible for me :P

they could also put different endtimes for the contest, that would be also more fair to the players in different timezones who are normally asleep or at work when the contest ends, that way those players can also enjoy those last minutes and be able to send in at the last minute.
