selling buildings on market

if i offer a building on market for sale and the building isnt sold does it free the slot it was built on/?

No it isn't like the other markets which do allow you to free up a slot. Otherwise you could get thousands of buildings really big, shove them on the building market for 99bil+ and wait for a contest and then "sell" another buildings and re-buy your one which you could use to make the contest product.
