Newbie is confused

Post by Guest » 18.02.2009, 17:55

I'm new to the game (less than one week in realm 1). I'm figuring things out but its a slow painful process. I have a plantation, fruit plantation, and cattle breeding operation. I also have a retail store. I'm constantly broke and don't like listing my stuff on the market if I can avoid it because I am never sure if/when it will sell (when your broke that is an issue since I don't want to shut down production).

I realize that with my 40 M2 fat buildings I'm not making much product but if anyone would like to send me a contract for a particular item I'll make it for a reasonable profit. I'm currently making cotton and wool and then strawberries that I'm selling at the grocery store.

I'm open to suggestions :)

1 Golden rule = food is NOT , and i repeat, NOT profitable.

As a newb on R1 , I would propose to start of with raw materials insteed of food.

I'll sadly have to agree with that. My first exercise in stupidity was buying quality 11 seeds to grow strawberries with. I ended up with strawberries that cost me more than I could sell them for either at the market or my grocery store. I have since gotten to where I can make a SMALL profit by making low quality strawberries and selling them at my own store. I only have 19k in cash so I can not buy any new buildings. I have ~31k worth of wool for sale on the market but it hasn't moved in a couple days so that is sunk money.

By raw materials do you count wool and cotton? I can currently produce 88.24 wool per hour and 44.33 cotton.

Your price is to high for wool. (I bought it and repriced it to give you a little extra money.) Wool sells for (5 to 10) + (0.4Q to 1Q) per unit. For lower qualities like yours it would be the lower prices.

Raw materials to produce: wood Q0(plantations), stone(mines), water(wells) and power(power plants)

Thank you sir! I think I will get out of the wool business after I sell off what I have in my warehouse. I don't really see anything to make at my cattle breeding plantation so maybe I will just idle it for now and not make anything there. I have used the proceeds from the wool sale to expand my plantation to 40 M2 and will focus on making wood and cotton to try to build up some cash. Once I have enough I will build a well.

Thanks again!
