what is 'turnover'?

I got this tip from my lovely secretary on logging in today:

Clue: With every level you rise, both your production output and turnover will be reduced. New players receive a bonus in the beginning in comparison to the long-established players, which is being reduced by and by.

I of course understand what production output is...but what, exactly is 'turnover' please?
Amount of time to clear goods from stores maybe?

Quote from an accounting manual

Turnover
Simply put, Turnover is the volume of business over a period of time.
It is also the ratio of workers in a company that have been replaced over a period of time, to the average number of workers.
If a company is selling goods, it is also the number of times that their inventory of goods is sold over a given period.

hope this helps :)

turnover = total income (AKA gross profit). Net profit is "take-home" profit.

basically means higher your level the less stuff you can make(production ouput) therefore you earn less money(turnover)
