Advertising - Am I missing something?

Post by Guest » 30.03.2008, 13:05

Ok, first off, I'm pretty new, 2.3m fixed assets, and on realm 2.

Now, I just got my tv station built and was anticipating churning out some nice mediocre level, but cheap, advertising for my stores, and was hit with a massive production cost. My Station looks like this.

AdvertisementsMarket place
Required: 1000 kWh Power
Quality max: 4 Production costs: 948,00

build tv station in green to lower the production cost + research high quality to make it more effective. or better, sell your tv stations and dont ever build new ones :lol: buy your ads from other people and forget the idea that producing everything yourself is the best way to go.

As GREED inc. said, don't build TV stations in red, only green.

At this stage it will be cheaper for you to buy the ads from other players than to make them yourself. There are others, on both realms, with high Ad research making their selling prices quite low. It would take millions to expand TV stations, expand RCs, and pay for research for months before you could ever compete.

Don't bother with ads if your stores are under 100m2. Once you get them to that size you can begin to invest in ads. Ads only increase you sales so much, ultimitely the larger your store the faster you can sell products.

quick question if i may add to this post. (please forgive me i'm not trying to steal your post) If i wanted to buy ads for a certain store, do i keep the advertisement once i start expanding my stores or i have too fill em up with advertisements over and over as my store grows? and other thing what excactly does quality play in advertisements. another thing i often see people selling ads something like this "selling ads 10 per point quality 20= 400 caps per add or something like that what does all of this mean?
if anyone can answer this question i would greatly appreciate it and once again i appologize to the original owner for stealing his thread.

Once an ad is placed in a store it will be there forever. You can expand the store or sell it to another player and it will remain.

Here is how ad points work.
The max ad points in a store is 40,000, you CAN have more points but any point after 40,000 is useless and a waste of money. If you have 40,000 ad points in your store it will sell items in half the time as a store with 0 points. A Q0 ad equals 1 ad point with every extra quality raising the ad point by one.

Q0 = 1
Q1 = 2
Q2 = 3
Q20 = 21
...

So, when they say "Selling Q30 ads 20 per point" means the cost of the ad is 620c. (31 points * 20) (If you where buying a Q30 ad you would need 1291 ads to get the 40,000 points needed to fill a store.)

hi, a quick follow up question. stores can only go up to 40K ad points but is there a limit to the number of ads themselves? (not taking into account the quality of them)

No limit to ad amounts. I have seen a store with over 156,000 ad points, what a waste...

[quote]Advertisements Production
Advertisements are an only exception to those three ways of production. They use basic elements and neither can be turned into any other good nor sold to NPCs
Advertisements:
- elements - 1000 kWh
- can turn into
