A few General Questions?

I am not exactly new to Kapi (although new to forums). My business is now close to 3000000caps (i know not exactly a vetran either). There are a few points that I am not sure on though.
1. When calculating total costs of production, don't you have to factor in material costs to? When I do this I get one figure but then when its finished in my warehouse it gives me another figure as to $ of item. The number it gives me is always less than what I figured my cost to make is.
Can anyone please help me out with this?
2. why does it cost so much more to expand a building than it does to just build another one? You would think building from scratch should cost more.
I am making money but only because I have to over charge in my stores and that takes a long time to sell the products. Can someone maybe help me out with a way to lower my production cost?

Checked the beginners threads, couldn't find what I was looking for.
Kapitools is great for a lot of things but it doesn't have an actual production costs, only a production amount calculator. I didn't understand why the production cost calculator wasn't added, because there is a building upgrade cost calculator.

yes I do. I actually use it for my kapi, to keep track of product pricing and so forth. That would be great if you could send me that.
