Cleaning the market
Hi,
I have few proposals to clean the market:
1.I know that there have been a min/max price for each product sell/buy on market and contracts introduced (you cant buy for example power for 100caps per kW or sell it lower then 0.02caps - by contract or buy market)
But even thought you cant buy it higher then the limit - you can still send it to the market on the astronomical prices.
I think ,as the price limits are really sky high, there should be also a limit in max price for each product so send to market as well as it is to buy from market
2.Additionally, there are tons of things on market that are send there on the astronomical prices - for example - 18 gas 1mil each - you cant buy it now (you would?) as there is a max price buy on market and it keeps messing the market cause everyone sees it for ages.
So i suggest to delete such an ads from market - the materials can be returned to the seller , as well as maybe the fee payed.
But it doesnt metter since mosts of players who gave outragous prices dont play any more
3. I check and there are more then 2700 ads on market - and the last ads are at the strange prices posted in November! I think there should be time limit for an ad on the market - for example 60 days. You post your ad to market for <60 days. If someone buys it no problem. And if not, after 60 days it's returned to you without paying you back your fee. This will limit the amouth of ads staying forever!
Hope you liked my proposals - if you have any about the market cleaning - post them here

I don't agree with point #1, but I do agree with point #2 and #3, in combination.
That is, I think that offers whose price are obviously way too high (like 1 Apple for 1 000 000 Kaps), *and* that are more than 60 days old, should be withdrawn from the market and returned to their owners, as if the owners bought them back themselves (that is, the sales commission should *not* be refunded)

#1 wont happen as it was brought up a number of times before and even if they do put a limit, people will just sell X amount of items at the limit and it would change nothing....
#2 is doable, and would temporarly clean up the market but would fix nothing... Also most, if not all of the outragious prices are from cheaters or really stupid/greedy people and they dont deserve to get their money back, nor their products for having no common sence.
#3 This is pretty much the only idea i agree with and would like to see, This would be the only real way to help minimize those old over prices ads and ads from dead companys, Although i would suggest 30 days, not 60.... cause if your product doesnt sell within 30 days... even 1-2 weeks, then you did somthing wrong. Unless of course you sold a crap load of products, but even at that i havnt seen anything go past 1-3 weeks on market with a proper price.)

first, i'm not really against #3, i just want to add that choosing the exact time is a complex decision, which i'm actually glad i don't have to take if such a feature should get implemented, and i would generally like to have such a feature
i will make a simple, real example:
in the wooden toys market of r2 i have a batch of 400 priced to 1000
this might seem like a very high price, but at the time i posted that i had succesfully sold a number of batches in the range around 1000, but this last batch that remain came too late and others who were aiming at producing wooden toys captured the market, i had a small production and wanted a high price
it wouldn't make a big loss for me if these wooden toys were lost (i think it's well over 30 days since it was posted) (this forumpost was written later: http://www.forum.kapilands.com/viewtopi ... highlight= )
the hard desicion for those who have to make it should be why shouldn't i be allowed to sit and wait for the market to return to it's former glory when there was no big trouble selling at such prices

Well what're saying is actually true - there are some branches where there is 0 supply/demand and it's impossible to determine there are the prices ok and is the market going off for a period of time and maybe in future it will go back. But well, in my opinion when you manufacture something and you put it on the market you want to sell it - if you miss the price it's a pity cause you dont earn. I would rather have my goods returned to me after 30,60 or 90 days and to have the possibility to "earn on them" then to look on my lost money forever and ever.
I agree that there are branches of industry that cant be affected by this rule here on kapilands but for example raw materials, gas, oil, fruits etc. should have limited time ads.

Well that exactly what i meant. If you had a good price - 1-2 weeks tops and product is sold - mostly matter of days rather then weeks
And about outragous prices - little modification in market link to sort all of market things by the price:
http://www.w2.kapilands.com/main.php4?p ... start=2700
You can see by yourself - seeds, power etc by the price over 15 000 per unit - sick and useless

if you understood the first lines of my post the way it was meant, you'd see i do see the benefit, and really i would like to see some kind of a feature of this sort to clean up some really outrageous ads in the market
what i wanted to point out with the rest of my post, is that there might be more considerations to take into account, so just simply deleting all old ads might not be the right way to go
for me those w.toys don't really matter economically, but perhaps someone else is in a similar situation and need to wait for that sale before they can move on. it happened to me that price dropped dramatically in the day or two a sale would normally take, so why shouldn't it happen to others...
don't forget the start of the post when you come to the end
1. i do want to see a market clean up
2. i do think time is a good variable to start with
3. i'm not convinced that time alone can be used uncritical/by itself

oh i misunderstood your post then.
But time is the only thing that can matter - i tried to think something else but i couldn't as price varies (economy), supply/demand too and it's all.
Maybe a solution would be the return of goods after 30 days with the refund of market fee. With that if your market ad was not realized due to economical change - you can renew your ad with no cost attached.
Or maybe player would be asked to renew the ad with no costs attached and he would have like 1 day to agree to this
For example - your ad is 29 days on market - so you get the message from kapilands asking do you want your products to stay on the market or not - if click nothing (you're out, not playing anymore etc. ) then your ad with disapear and make a room for someone else

that's two proposals that would remove the ads from shut down companies
i can't say i'm convinced about the refund part and then there are the players who log in a once per week, they could easily miss such a warning message
i think it's time for the admins to take part in this thread if the basic idea seems usable in the game

Greetings.
Please understand that we won't make such an action on the server. The reasons for this are quite easy:
It could be possible that one of these items will be required for a competion and will be sold then.
Another reason for this is, that the players have already payed their market provision.
Anyway these items don't annoy anyone because they move really fast to the last pages of the product.
Thank you,
Zbombe.
