profitable industries

Post by Guest » 25.11.2007, 08:36

I know this has been discussed before but i m thinking about things that people havent tried yet. Like i was thinking about a realistic company in realm2, maybe supermarkets selling different kinds of food etc. Are there any products that can work well like that and are there any that make no profit at all? I d love to have a billion cap retail company. Getting kinda tired of gas

Nope. Some product just aint profitable. For example, potatoes. You can ask j.inc, the potato emperor of kapiland. He has research of q27 currently!

In my experience, power's been pretty profitable and iron ore looks like it has a lot of potential in realm 2. It's worked for me in realm 1 and the only iron ore in the realm 2 market is a lot more expensive so you can charge more for it.

I think it's not true. When I started a game in Realm2 AFTER tutorial I was agricultural company. I produced potatoes for less than 1 caps and could sell them in my own shops for 3-4 caps.
So some prifit it brings.

Of course GAS is much more profitable :)

when someone says that something isnt profitable that usually means its way less profitable than certain other things ;)

At the begining of R2 there was tons of iron ore on the market and no real steel producers. Then everyone, seeing that, started making steel. I can hardly keep up expanding to meet demand for coal and iron ore. That is being said from someone who produces hundreds of thousands daily.

Tired of gas? Try something you can "corner" the market for. Pullovers for example work for me on R1. You could try jewely, they do well on every server. But, I would go for some "odd" products just for fun. Detergent makes a rather nice little profit on Welt1. :)

How about toothpastes and perfumes instead of detergent ? :)

Toothpastes are quite good. I'm making them myslef, and looking form retail statistics I'm one of the biggest producers of them.
They are much easier than perfumes when you are making all the products yourself: chemicals + oil -> plastic; chemicals + pastic -> toothpastes. If you decide to buy all the products and focus only on making the final product I'd suggest perfumes.
Detergent and lotions are a little less profitable versions of toothpastes and shampoo are less profitable version of perfumes, so I'd suggest not to make them unless the demand for perfumes and toothpastes is covered fully (which I doubt will ever happen)

I bought chemicals, plastics and glasses from contracts from another player and I sell perfumes and toothpastes in my drugstore. It is quite profitable to sell them. Maybe not as profitable as gas, wardrobes, leather jackets and television but still profitable enough compared to some other products for now.

Knolls list some products that are profitable in this post :

I understand that toothpastes business can be profitable, but please explain to me why should one wait untill "the demand for them is covered fully". Is it not better to SELL product from your stores WHEN demand is NOT fully covered?
I thought it should be WISER and BETTER to sell products when supply is lesser than demand.
If demand will be covered full, how it would be possible to have high profits?

Some examples from Realm1 (stats from 02.12.2007):
Article....................Demand...................Supply
Apples....................27,937,990....................364,610
Beds....................2,793,799....................1,027
Beer....................27,937,990....................20,672
Cars....................5,588....................152
Chairs....................2,793,799....................167
Chickens....................55,875,980....................354,404
Computers....................2,793,799....................3,927
Cabriolets....................5,588....................459
Detergents....................5,587,598....................9,605
Diamond rings....................5,588....................7,482
Eggs....................111,751,960....................13,515
Gas....................111,751,960....................47,130,753
Golden necklaces....................55,876....................28,370
Jeans....................2,793,799....................4,624
Leather gloves....................1,117,520....................31,873
Leather jackets....................558,760....................338,419
Lotions....................5,587,598....................63,018
Monitors....................2,793,799....................1,863
Motorbikes....................5,588....................326
Perfumes....................2,793,799....................48,623

Realm 1 for me looks like a place with GREAT possibilities for business. Only some products are produced in greater quantities and only Diamond rings have higher supply than demand.
Am I right?
