Stock / Shares

Post by Guest » 11.10.2007, 21:51

I see that we have the option to buy "shares" in thing slike: Kapi Bank, Kapi Times, etc. But why isn't there an option for buying stock in other companies? And sell stock in your own company?

There cannot be shares from players companies. Every player can delete his/her account whenever he likes. What happens to the shares? They will have to disappear.

Also, If the performance of the company should be an indicator for the share price, then the shares will only go up, up and up, because companies in kapilands always grow. (Not like in real life) Economy in kapilands is not like in real life.

In my opinion this shares function should be removed from the game. No one knows what moves the prices, if there is a move in the prices anyway. I never liked it.

Ok, heres the problem:

Obviously, no player is going to be losing the game so badly that he has to resort to holding an IPO...he might as well reset his account :P!

And, share of companies mean unlimited profits...Becuase 99% companies NEVER lose a penny ever...all companies make profits...

ok mabey having shares into kapilands player companies will never happen but buying shares is a good idea in real companies so y not do the same here put real shares out for players to buy and the game can put up the actule share price for players to buy so say at the moment

the price for 1 coca cola share is $65
and tommorow it will be $63
so the game will update itself once or twice aday and put up new prices using real companies more players would be into buying shares

ONCE OR TWICE A DAY??

Dude...this is the stock market...You monitor it every 15 mins...or every 30 mins...

Any player with some knowledge of the stock market will NEVER BUY a share...why? because...
1. They wont be loggin into kapilands all day long...
2. Most people probably log in after work times...which is after the market is closed...
3. All players know that their chances of earning decent money through stock market all get destroyed when Google Finance tells them that GOOG is up by 100 points...and by the time Kapilands UPDATES its stock market info...GOOG is probably only 20 points up...that will be really frustrating...

Sorry...stock markets are not possible in kapilands

Real life stock market is not a good idea unless you can have allmost instantly updates info... and i dont think that really falls in the realm of Kapilands anyway... thats sort of taking you away from the game...

Share/stocks in Companys are obviously not being considered for said reasons... BUT... What about Shares and Stocks in the PRODUCTS... The Market info is in the STATS page.... It could basicly work off Demand and SUpply... How much was Made, How much SOld, The Items average Price, How much is Available ect... and i mean for the Realm or possible by Country, not a Company

This would Allow a Stock Market that can go up and Down, rise in price or even Crash... i think it would be somthing worth looking into..

Nice idea...but wouldnt it be smarter to earn money by simply selling that high value product than investing in it??

Coz I think that selling it will earn you more than investing it...am i right?

The current stock market system doesnt even give a profit... so Whats of the point of even that?? Products will always remain the most proiftable... Why make the Special Buildings... you dont make more then your Products...

This is ment to add another Element to the game... somthing to play with with you extra Money... Large Profits can be made if you watch the market... and for my idea... you'll REALLY have to watch the market... using the Power for example.. when it was at 0.02 and 0.03 would have been the best time to buy... now that it's rising if you bought stock in the Power Product Then you will have to decide when to sell to make most profit... will it rise more.. or will it go down to 0.03 again...

as i said, it's not supposed to be a income replacement... it's ment to add to the game.

That's a pretty good idea.

(I haven't got to manager level yet, so I cannot trade stocks, but I would like to when I get there. It was one of the things I was looking forward to).

How about this idea?

Instead of buying and selling shares in companies, what about by national indexes? You could have an index of the market cap of all companies (over manager level) in France or Oman or Mali. Then there would be 8 stocks to buy. Or you could even have an index for each of the rank classes, like a Billionare Index, a Manager Index, etc. that could be a weighted average of their market caps. Since fixed assets tend to grow, but cash on hand would fluctuate alot, it would add some volatility to the index but the trend would be upward.

The stock market should not be like a casino where you strike it rich. It should be a place to park your extra cash and make a reasonable rate of return, but also allow for some speculation and diversification.
