This may seem like a rather stupid question, but is there no option to research power?

Between brownouts, dropout, blackouts, voltage sags, voltage spikes, line noise, frequency variations, harmonic distortions, switching transients and many other power problems, you can definitely have mixes that make your power be good quality power, or bad quality power.Is high quality power possible in the real world lol?
Bad quality power can put a lot of stress on your equipment, and in order to ensure power of "good quality" (on critical servers, for example), there even exists high grade UPS (online dual conversion). For the general public, you'll often find units doing a similar work and labelled
power conditioners.

Or actually most often private companies contracted by the state or city, as a utility to supply to the public.
I'm told at work we do not have enough power for our plant, now that we are expanding we might run into problems.
Not because the power plant is not producing enough electricity but the availability of transformers to feed it to our buildings.
Also, different voltages are required.
in the states we use 110 volts for residential use,
but for industrial use you might need 220 or 330 or even 440 or higher to run your machines.
other commercial companies that deal with computers have taken to renting space is a private electrical system to prevent power surges and outages which would cause problems for their computers.

Oh, the voltage itself has little to do with it. 110 volts is not of better or lesser quality than 220. Theorical "perfect" power is a nice sine wave with tops at exactly 110 (or 220, or something else), and at an exact frequency of 50 or 60 Hz. What is refered to as "bad quality" power is when your power doesn't have a sinusoid shape and rather looks like a square or sawblade wave, or when it goes over (or below) the voltage it's supposed to -regardless whether it's 110 or 220-, or when it's at the wrong frequency -regardless whether it's 50 or 60 Hz-.
In practice, at your plug, it never really is making a perfect wave, nor is it at exactly 110 volts and exactly 60 Hz (or 220v and 50Hz). But even if you don't have a perfect sinusoid, you're still good as long as you don't have a square or sawtooth wave. And you're also good with 112v, as long as you don't have 150 instead, etc.
The higher end UPS "manufacture" a nice perfect sine wave at exactly the right specs, and feed that to your computer; even when there is no power outage. That's what you'd call high quality power.
Of course, at the plug itself, you have different qualities of power too. But it has nothing to with the specs it has to follow. It's rather how well it actually follows them.
