Funny IGMs

Post by Guest » 08.11.2007, 02:00

Although I was annoyed at first, in hindsight, this is a hilarious IGM conversation I was forced to have, so I thought I might share:

It started off slowly: Nov 7, 3:50 am (remember, it's in the middle of the night for me!):
i have sent u an offer of 4000 steel for 115 each please reply a.s.a.p if u accept

Next message Nov 7, 4:11 am:
can you please hurry up im running out of money i have 19,396.12money please buy it all you are a man/woman of extreme wealth please help me by buying my 4000 steel
Next message Nov 7, 4:16 am:
Are you even reading your messages or are you ignoring anything anyone asks u and wasting coins on these dumb ads u don't bother to look at to see if u have any deals
I get up to get ready to go to work. check my IGM, find it, but there is no contract, so I write back Nov 7, 6:00 am:
I haven't received a contract. I will accept all steel for 115
Then I had to drive to work.

Next Message Nov 7, 6:23 am
i have sent you a contract now please accept
Next message Nov 7, 6:31 am
when will u be on and accept its starting to peeve me of u always log out before i can give u them
Impatience can be felt :)

Next message Nov 7, 6:34 am
are you even online or do u just ignore people
Next message Nov 7, 6:43 am
log in already im down to my last $3000 please buy my steel
He's getting desparate. All the while I'm sitting in my car, not noticing anything :)

Next message Nov 7, 6:49 am
Titeled: What the hell
what the hell is frigging wrong with you you don't log in or your just a jerk who don't listen to contracts or messages
He's really freaking out by now.

I arrive at work around 7:00 am, log on and read the IGMs. So I accept the contract and write back:
I accepted; Stop freaking spamming me
Ok, maybe I shouldn't have done this, since I might have hurt his/her feelings:

Next Message Nov 7, 7:23 am
i hate you im never using your company in a trade again even if its the last thing i can do
I was still a little annoyed about his obnoxiousness, so I wrote back
Yes, please don't
Seemingly, then he/she went to bed/offline whatever, but back online, continued, now it gets really funny:

Next Message Nov 7, 1:43 pm
what a noob im going to tell all my friends on this game to ignore all your offers
I'm now really scared, so I go in active defense mode and write:
As obnoxious as you are, you probably don't have that many friends :) (...)

But then also told him/her to relax and that I don't play this game full-time, etc.

And then, the best IGM came in, I had to really laugh:

Nov 7, 2:25 pm
wat the hell are you talking about are you a freaking lawyer well screw you all lawyers do is get money and nothing else so screw you
and right afterwards

Nov 7, 2:37 pm
i wish i could ban you from talking to me

I also want to thank that person (you know who you are if you read this) for giving me a nice little afternoon chuckle in the office. You made my day.

I mean it too! That's the last steel I ever send you...

Very entertaining. I've seen that happen on message boards too. Someone's refreshing 18 times a minute expecting that obviously, you were just sitting there waiting to answer them.

If it was that urgent to him, he could have at least done an "are you there? If no answer in 5 minutes I'll find someone else" message. I've both sent and received those, and they get the job done.

I can relate to this person somewhat.

Low on money, need some quick, send out low contract ... I sent a contract for cars for 80,000 because I had 5+ contrcts out, needed money and only had 614.87 something. I was mass producing and used up alot of funds.

Still, quite alot of IGMs within a day .... I wish I got that many :(

Very entertaining story, indeed.

Now to everbody who wants to have an online status shown: If there were such an online status, things like this would happen every day. 5 IGM within 10 minutes saying: Hey you are online, accept my contract now. And then you come back from the toilet, wondering what happend...

Socronoss, thank you for taking the time and sharing this little story with us.

Give the "kid" a break. I hate reading about how you laugh at this unfortunate individual. They lack the right timing but at least they are communicating. Maybe we didn't hear the entire conversation, maybe you saw this coming or something. A conversation is like the tango, it takes two people. Maybe if you spent a little bit more time using diplomacy we wouldn't have to hear about your boring life.

Maybe he has a right to be upset, maybe you are a noob, maybe he will never play the game again. Maybe it's just not worth playing if you can't afford to produce because of the creditors not paying. If you run your own real company and you don't get your contracts signed you will go bankrupt and maybe even start killing people.

I've heard several storied about businessmen killing bad creditors. That's real life for you. Consider yourself lucky you're still alive and never start your own real business. You will find unsigned contracts very distressing.

You enjoy people around you getting upset? Go to hell then, you shall have company there. Please either ignore this person or communicate around their negative aggression. Don't tell us "real" players about how you upset them more. It's not nice to receive these type of messages but you don't have to make it worse.

You support this game? then help support the race (human) by educating these people how to deal with the situation properly. All you have done is make it worse.

Knolls can't help it really, birth is the problem. It's just not funny.

I hope I get reincarnated onto a different planet from you.

PS I have now sold my steel. :P

(Please don't do a quote all if it's not necessary. That takes up lot of visible space. Thanks, Knolls)
Hopefully this [censored] isn't in business in real life..... that was too funny, thanks for sharing! :D

I'm not quite with you there TheSmell. Non-paying creditors are a problem, but this isn't about real business. It's not even about game business. This is a lack of understanding about life.

It is not appropriate or wise, in any circumstances, to send emails 3 and 5 minutes apart getting angry that the last mail wasn't responded to already. Anyone who does that is inevitably going to get himself worked up regardless of what you do. The lesson here isn't about mocking people - the seller is anonymous and riled himself up while Socronoss was sleeping.

The lesson to take from this is that if you have to deal with someone who is angry and irrational, you should find humor in the situation rather than descending to their level. The "don't have many friends" response was probably unnecessary. But it's better than what a lot of people might do - like sending your own responses every 5 minutes calling him names for not answering. I've seen too many people goaded into fights that then become two-sided, and it's much better to just back away and chuckle over it later.

My main point on this, Who Would Not Have Bought Steel For 115/Unit? He needed the money bad enough, why after you didnt accept it did he not send it to someone else. He would have found someone eventually. Heck, when i am looking to sell something quick, i go to the market and see if a larger company has just put something on the market becasue almost EVERY large company buys steel, stone, power, etc, etc...

I'm not sure what the entire conversation was, however, I think the proper thing to do was inform the player that you had been offline while in bed. Then calmly ask if they have a special problem that you might be of some assistance with. Then you can start a proper conversation, they get their contract signed and you get your steel.

If you can't act like a rational human being (you let this person upset you so you became negative) just ignore them. Obviously you didn't have enough time to talk this person around into behaving sensibly.

So it's just a game? You had the chance of making it a better one buy educating the fellows around you. Do they read the forum? Maybe, maybe not. I'm hoping that the person does read the forum and learns that there are many players who live on the other side of the world, therefore changing this person into a better human being. If I wanted to play games with perfect people I would play patience by myself. :P

People have to make mistakes. It's the way we learn how to interpret and behave. You are right that it is a little bit funny but I'm sure you understand that educating the uneducated is much more important than any silly/funny game.

This spamming and aggression needs to be addressed. The best outcome would be to have someone explain where the player is going wrong. That way they become better players/citizens. They are already communicating but not in the right way. Encourage them to keep communicating! Take the opportunity to make your life fuller by helping someone who obviously needs it.

You can find friends in the strangest places. You can find enemies everywhere. Let's forgive this player and try to bring them closer rather than laughing in their faces/behind their backs. Laughter is the best medicine but not everyone is laughing here. We should be laughing together not at each other.

Life is a game. If you can't handle it then maybe this game is not for you.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving is not for you.
What have you got to lose?

Boy, there sure is impatient people in this game. For me, I will cancel contract if it is left open for >24hours unless I am informed in one way or another.

There is this company who igm me if I am online. Well I replied him, went on to do my stuffs and when I was back in 30 minutes, I sure receive interesting igm from him. The contract is of around 1.2mill worth of q0 wood but he is like 180mill in FA wow, he cant even wait for 10 mins. Obviously I cant wait for him after I sent him that IGM, who knows when he will reply/send and it will be wasting my valuable time.
