When is the contest due to end?

When is the contest due to end?
This would be a stupid question if it wasn't so critical.
In the Kapitimes it states: The Contest ends on Friday, September 7th, 2007. Contracts have to be sent by that Friday 23:00 GMT (forum time) at the latest! That means: 24:00 server time!
(Incidentally that is a very convoluted way of saying it will end at midnight central European time, 23:00 London time and 22:00 GMT - notice the discrepancy in the GMT values which has been brought up before)
In the contest stats however it states that it will end on 6th of September at 23:59 - that is a whole 24 hours earlier than normal contests, earlier than contest as announced on the kapitimes too, and about 24 hours seem to have been shaved off the timer (I am pretty certain when I checked yesterday there were roughly 80 hours left on the timer)
So my question naive though it may be is - when is the contest going to end?
When is this contest REALLY ending?
I would need an answer as soon as possible as this has very obvious implications.

Yup I am aware that the contest ends automatically so the timer is the way to go. However I am not sure the timer is set correctly, hence the question, because if the time of the contest is announced in one way and the timer is set incorrectly or is then changed, I need to know whether the timer is going to be changed again or corrected before the contest ends.
With this specific contest, and the newspaper, there have been typos, due to reusing the text from previous contests. The newspaper says in bold "on Friday, September 7th, 2007". The contest stats page says thursday at 23:59:00, which is basically the same as friday, but in a clear notation much preferable to midnight. It's always hard to know if you should consider midnight as 0:00:00 or at 24:00:00, i.e. in the night starting the day, or 24 hours later in the night ending it. In this case, we're clearly talking "Friday", as in the 0:00:00 midnight that will start the day, both in the newspaper and on the stats page.
Further down in the newspaper article, there is indeed a mention of sending stuff at the latest "by 23h friday", but I feel it's very obvious that is it a leftover-typo from the previous contest, which involved sausages, and did end on a saturday.
The bold part mentioning the end date in the newspaper, is accurate and matches the stats page. Logic suggests the "Friday 23h" later in the text has been overlooked when re-arranging the article from contest to contest, and that the bold description in the newspaper and the contest script won't be both modified to match that lone typo, but that, if anything, said typo will be re-arranged to match the two others.

Your answer was quite long, but still the question remains unanswered.
Thanks for starting this thread. I always took it for granted that every contest ends on a friday. Now it seems that there were some more mistakes in the last issue of the newspaper, than just the quality of the contest product.
I think the contest will end on thursday evening. Maybe this is a mistake, but the contest clock is set to that time.
Greets.

I agree that there is no doubt that the in game contest timer is going to be the time when this contest ends.
It is just surprising that every other contest has ended Friday evening (GMTish) whereas this one is going to end up 24 hours early. I know I'm not the only one which has been surprised by this - when I setup my strategy for the contest I relied on the newspaper (as there were more than 200 hours left on the clock at that time, I didn't bother to count) and have been going on it ever since.
I wonder how many people will be caught out by this - availability at the time when a contest ends is critical for instance, and my availability is simply not the same on a Friday evening than on a Thursday evening.
Oh well. I am still hoping some admin or editor can clarify the situation - else we can assume that the timer on the in-game contest page will determine the end of the contest, and that timer (which is not consistent with the information presented in the kapitimes) will not be corrected.
However if there is a correction which will be made, it would be nice to know asap.

...maybe it is all part of the 'secret contest product' theme...maybe the end time is also a secret

...or maybe the 'powers that be' think we all need a 'shake-up' and are testing our 'powers of observation' ??
