Kapi Time

Post by Guest » 03.07.2007, 13:44

I play Kapiland from Dallas, Texas (CMT), and I do have problems with the while time issue. Since Kapilands in GMT, it takes me longer to find out when people sent messages, and worst of all, when I save my finance stats at 11:00 PM (my time) into my Google Notebook, the date is the next days date.

I wish that Kapilands would allow us to select our own time setting, depending on our time zone, which should make a lot of the in game activities less confusing.

This is just a quick thought, as I did not talk to the programmers... but would it help, if there was a clock with the current server time e.g. in the contest stats, where you can also see the remaining hours until the contest ends?

How about two clocks, side by side. Server time and your own customizable timezone. Both in game and on the forums.

That way you could communicate with other people about auctions and contests. (I can't figure out when an auction ends for the life of me)

why do you want to have your own time shown in the game?

i'm guessing that they would like it because that way they can work out the math to how long ago msgs, contracts, market mail + other things told in kapi time, not everyone lives in the same place.. so it might say time mail received say.. 8pm kapi.. but the person who got it, the time was actully 2am for them.. so they would have to work out the time diffrence..

;p i wouldn't mind to have my time near servertime thing.. but its nothin huge.. i could live without it lol.. =]

Well I think Invuse wanted it because the financial sheets don't necessarily treat a day the way you would expect them to. So at 11pm he wants to look up "what did I do today?" and all it's telling him is the last 5 hours.

However I don't know that this is feasible, from a technical standpoint, having everyone on different times.

As for having a clock in game, what operating system are you people using that doesn't have a clock on it? Aside from that I can see clocks, without even turning my chair, on my VCR, my phone, my cell phone, my watch, my radio, and if I'm watching a news channel, on the TV too. That's 7 present-time clocks available to me. The one thing I don't need is another one in-game.

However, an easy one with the server-time wouldn't be a bad touch.

I have often raced to the Office/Finances page to find it all zeros (now that's information). Maybe the finance page could have yesterdays record as well?

This could give us an account for our company for the 24 hours preceding the last server update.

That's move relevant than 5 hours... I normally am having my first cup of coffee in the morning when the server updates that page and going through the motions of setting up production for the day. It's really important info. Seems a waste to read a page of zeros ( don't like waste).

Would that be hard? :) Busy times I know but the busier the better.

First of all: there will be a clock in game showing the server time...

And they will also try to implement the option that everybody can set his own server time/ time zone in game. It is, however, not sure, whether this will come and depends on the required efforts, as they are also handling lots of other issues at the moment. So I will keep you informed on that.

Referring to the financial statement/ display of the former day: I will give it to the programmers... and also keep you informed on that.... do not know whether it is possible...

Oh, hey, it's my own post I forgot about.

Thanks GoldenEye and Tycoon for your efforts.

Personally, I think that time is going to be a problem as Kapilands is played by more and more players worldwide.

I think everybody will have seen it by now, but just wanted to ensure that everybody gets knowledge of it:
you can now change the time zone in your profile... hope, it helps all international players!
