Production Costs

Post by JoseLopes » 11.07.2007, 19:24

When we calculate the production cost of our products we have to add to the fixed production cost of the product and the money we paid for the things included in the production, haven't we? For example, to product seeds:

1kg of seeds cost 0.01

thats right for your PRODUCING cost . But You'll have to calculate the REAL cost .
Cuz , even if you make evrything by yourself you may not cheat yourself.

Seeds = 0.01 + 1 water
Seeds = 0.01 + 0.1 power + 0.02
Seeds = 0.01 + 0.001 + 0.02
Seeds = 0.031

However you aint making money if you sell it at 0.10 because
your seeds are worth

Seeds = 0.01 + 0.12
Seeds = 0.13

Think that way : insteed of selling the seed , i kept the 0.01 producing cost , and sold the water !

Get it ?
I think you can find something that eplains it better in ' the usefull treats' section of the forum.

Thank you for the correction. I told you that i buy water 1 liter of water for 0.02. I don't produce it. So i don't spend that 0.01 of power needed and my producing cost is realy 0.03.

It is against the rules. That would qualify as an "extreme" advantage.

There is not an extreme advantage on one side. I buy water for 0.02 caps and i sell power for 0.01. These are the producing costs of the products. Is good for me and for him.

I don't believe they see it like that. Each contract is a stand alone advantage. You cannot trade one item for another, that makes each deal an extreme advantage.

I see. So they consider that i am having an extreme advantage when he sells me the water and that he is having an extreme advantage when i sell him the power? But, if I inform one moderator, maybe i can continue with this. It's not an extreme advantage. Is good for the two of us.

It is discussed and explained quite thoroughly in this tread.

Even still, say you buy water at .02. You have to add in the extra cost of obtaining that cheap water by selling your power super cheap.

So when calcualting your production costs, don't use the price it cost you to obtain. Use market price.

I'm not good at deutch ( german ) , so which option is it for the real production cost ?

I had a private conversation with the OP, so that is resolved. But for the rest of you, let me clear this up.

1. You will not get an absolute answer of X caps is bad, X+0.01 is ok. That would just give cheaters the idea that they can pick some "safe" price and avoid trouble. Anything done with the intention of one company intentionally suffering so the other gets a benefit, is bad.

2. There are multiple people, system searches, etc involved in finding cheaters. While any of the mods are happy to answer questions from you, we're not ready to give "yes/no" approval on swaps like this. Even if I think a trade ok, that doesn't guarantee that 3 weeks from now after you do 20 of them you won't get flagged by someone 6 timezones away and have your accunt locked, requiring a messy discussion to clear it up.

3. Even if I wanted to, I can't just say "this sweetheart deal is fine" based on prices like that. For example, look at the OP's proposed trade: power for 0.01, water for 0.02. I know he means for it to be fair. But what if one player sells 1000 power, the other 1 million water. One is getting the better end of the deal by far, and that would be an "extreme advantage" trade. Understand?

4. It just doesn't matter that much. The money is just getting passed back and forth between the two of you anyway. So if you raise the prices, neither of you is out any money, you just swap more of it back and forth. Your total profits from the rest of the world will still be the same.

So please if you want to give good deals to your trading partners I'm all for that. But not crazy good. Nothing so low that it would devastate you if you had to sustain it. And you can all judge that just as well as I can.
