What is your Main Business (July)

Post by Guest » 01.07.2007, 06:19

In June over 100 people voted in this thread to indicate what line of industry they are in. But people do change over time, so we're starting another poll for July. This is no guarantee it will happen every month. But if your business has changed - or if it hasn't - please share to give a good picture.

Basically, what do you consider to be your "main" business? Maybe you do several things, but there's that one that takes most of your time, or makes most of your money, or that you put the most research into. Or maybe you really don't have a "main" business, because you do too many things or switch often. Whatever feels right to you.

Fitting in the categories may require a tough call but hopefully something feels more "main" to you. For example:
  • If I made silver and just sold it, I would call that "Industrial Goods for Production." But if I used that silver to make necklaces, I would say my business is "Jewelery."

Likewise if you sell corn, that's "Farm Goods for Production." If you grow corn, use it to make eggs, and sell the eggs, that's "Food." If you use the corn for cattle and sell that, that's "Farm good for Production" again. But if you make corn, use it for cattle, use the cattle for leather, and use the leather for gloves, that's "Clothing & Textiles."
It's whatever is "main" to you. If unsure and you want to put details in the thread, I'm sure people would love to discuss it.

(And yes some of the categories are combined a bit strangely - polls can only have so many options.)

I make more money per day on wood but I would say Wool would be my main business. Seeing I have more Cattle-Breeding farms than anything else.

So, I voted for: Farm Goods for Production

Wood and water, primarily, then strawberries. Next I'll be building a power plant and then a mine (which should be exciting).

I voted for 'dont have a main business', because I sell stuff from 6 of those categories. Maybe I should specialise more, hmm.

I also sell stuff from some categories. I always look for the best ROI, less than 5 days ROI is good :)
