Maximum production amount / Quality calculator
It would save me a lot of headache if factories did a bit of math for you.
Wouldn't it be nice if my TV factory told me how many TVs I could make with the stock I have on hand? That would save me a ton of trips to the warehouse.
I know quality makes it difficult, but how about it just selects the quality you have the most of? That is usually what people want to use anyways.
As another benefit, it could also display the Quality that would be created with that same combination of materials.
EDIT: read post 4 & 5 in this thread

Not sure but , I think it will take alot of memory to do that , thus it will not be included

I imagine the coding time to create such a feature would be the major setback. It is probably not horribly memory intensive, a large number of browser games have this feature already.
Regardless, that's why this is in the suggestions thread and not the demands.
Actually.. if it would just query the warehouse file for products on hand requred for each product.. an dlist the Quanity and Level below. each item..
QL and production times are already cauclated on a case by case basis.. I suspect that teh extra info on every factory page would create a little bit more load as well as all the query but you would lose a lot of teh back and forth.
ie..

Code: Select all
Wardrobes

Quality max: 9 Production costs: 6.05
Also, on a different note. It would be nice to see a quality calculator on the quality selection page of your factories. Sometimes I make mistakes and make 19/5 Q resulting in a large batch of wasted goods.
It would require more of an interactive quality page, rather than check boxes, but I think it might save some of those last minute warehouse searches.
At the very least, it could display the qualities of the products already selected. Say if I make a TV, the TV Q and E-comp Q is usually pretty constant. So I have to select a Q of plastic and glass, it would be nice to have the Q of the other materials selected on the same page. Maybe greyed-out or in plain text below.

So if I follow correctly, you're saying that in addition to everything already on, say, the Factory page, it should also list
Power
Minerals
Oil
Quartz
Chemicals
Iron Ore
Coal
In all qualities? That's like a second warehouse page. Actually, that's potentially more than a warehouse page, since you get 20 listings per page there and it's easy to have 5 different qualities for each of those.
I sympathise with not wanting to go back and forth between production and the warehouse, but I'm not sure this is the way to go.

I agree that listing every quality of every component is way too much information.
At the very least, and we could expand from there, it could use one of the qualities, such as the most numerous, or the sum of all of the qualities, to calculate how many you can produce.
If I had 5140 power in my warehouse, my well might look like this:
Oil
Required: 100 kWh Power
Maximum Production: 51
Or if I had 35 Q0 Coal and 12 Q1 Coal, my factory might look like this:
Steel
Required: 2 kg Iron ore 5 kg Coal 0.5 kg Chemicals 200 kWh Power
Maximum Production: 7
At it's simplest form, it's only one number added, really. Yes quality makes it complicated, but it is certainly not impossible. Most people have a large amount of their highest quality materials anyways.
That was the first suggestion. The second suggestion (Post #5) dealt with selecting the quality. It would be nice to have quality calculated as you were selecting items, as well as any items already selected displayed. That would prevent a lot of mistakes, and ruined materials.
