How do I use my research? I have diamond ring research 13 but every ring i make says 0.

The short answer is that you didn't increase the "Production Level" in your Jewel Factory. You should set it to 127 so you don't forget each time you get new research. But also, read the FAQ because it will explain this in detail and other things too.
