I started producing enoug wood to satisfy my own needs, and stack up so I can expand alot..

IMO its not unfair that big CORPs control the marked, heck.. They are the marked, if they wanted, they could buy all the wood on the marked under 75 caps, and they price would jump from around 40 to 75 in a flash, and you would have to pay nearly twice the caps for your wood..

So be happy, or make your own damn wood! (Phun intended)

first of all i would like to say outstanding post to capitalis.
second this is some calcs at my prices on wood and wardrobes:

1 plantation 20m^2 will give 14.773 profit a day with wood selling at 40.

producing wardrobes in a 20m^2 joinery and selling them at average cost to the npcs (1.759 in germany) will give 38.372 a day.

now you cant really compare both profits without taking in consideration the cost of furniture store+joinery compared to a plantation, and of course the Q6 needed to sell at the average price in the stores, ill leave that to the experts like knolls and capitalis if they want to be bothered to find all the costs involved.
even at 40 there are better starter industrys that give more profit per day, but in terms of that accursed ROI you will have troubles finding one that can give you more.

A few things i have to mention:

-ROI of plantation making wood is really high
-Esspecially when I have CMB generously offering his seeds to me

When i made this post, i had still not read the ROI post made by our beloved forum mod KNOLLS
(LINK to ROI POSThttp://www.forum.kapilands.com/viewtopi ... hlight=roi)

I have a few bugging questions!

1st, is all end products end up in store example: TVs, Tables, rings and so on...
2nd, if so is the buying prices of the npcs fixed by game admins?
3rd, then is contests the only abnomily inserted into the games to keep it
intresting?

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE AND ANSWERS IN THE PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE

-ROI of plantation making wood is really high
That's only if you don't expand, so it's not a long term solution,
if you start expanding your ROI will change dramaticaly against your favour.

Orval is right on about the effects of expansion. Still, it is a good way for new players to take advantage of their slots and "get the ball rolling".

If you want a no think investment that does well with expansion, a mine is better.

Right now, "slash and burn" farming is probably best done with cotton - because of the much lower cost to "plant". For the production costs to run wood for a day from 15 plantations, you can build another plantation and produce cotton. It is a fast way to use a lot of slots.

1st, is all end products end up in store example: TVs, Tables, rings and so on...
Yes those products do end up in retail stores. There are (off the top of my head) I think about 65 of them, out of about 105 products in the game.

In the game if you go to help (up top) then choose products on the left, you can look through there. They list what stores they are sold at. Those get sold to the NPC for cash, and anything without a store listing gets used only by other players.
2nd, if so is the buying prices of the npcs fixed by game admins?
To an extent. You pick the price, but then how long it takes to sell is determined by the game. Lower prices, and you sell more products more quickly.

There are numbers deep in the code that indicate how fast customers will buy each product at a certain price. These prices are modified by
  • wages (fixed per region)
  • demand (increases in region each time you hire someone)
  • average price of the product (changes every day based on player sales
  • average quality of the product (changes every day based on player sales
Read my "setting retail prices" thread for more info on how retail stores work if you've never played with one.
3rd, then is contests the only abnomily inserted into the games to keep it intresting?
Well there are also certain events that pop up time to time. You get a "call from the warehouse" or something popping up in your email, and these tell you about special events for you. People discuss them in the forums sometimes, and they should be marked with

I read about expansion being a huge drop in ROI, but it sure make daily profits shoot up.

Question about research

lets say i make q5 wood at quantity of 48000 per day

which is better buying level 10+ research for 3m or expanding the research center for a long term goal or just expand a plantation.

most people would say expand research center and waste some time to make more money.

but i would like to get some expert point of view.

The expected ROI on expansions of plantations is the key reason of wood/cotton price expansion (I predicted this already 3 weeks ago). As long the market demand can be covered by small 20m2 planantions the price for wood could be low (say 8.0/piece margin over the production cost of ca. 16) - reflecting the relatively low investment needed for 20m2 plantations. Once the demand exceeded the production capacity price started to reflect ROI on expansion and 20m2 expansion of a plantation is roughly trice as expensive as a basic 20m2 planantion. This leads to the price of increase from:

16 + 8 =24, to
16 + 3*8 = 40

Rough calculation, but IMO it demonstates the key price driver from the supply side.

I think you can refer to Knolls' article on how to calculate value of research mathematically.

DAMMIT! wood prices down to 35 each...

A thought running in my mind these days.
We know kind generous and powerful (all hail the CMB) has been selling seeds to his guild members at excellent prices. I drool every day as i recieve his seeds ( oops dirty thought YUCK! ..no pun intended )

so anyways this brings to mind a question , Just how strategising and foward thinking is CMB?

please folo me on this small exploration;

-he sells seeds realli cheap good quality
-he is the end benificary for most on kapiland wood
-he can demand low prices
-process of selling the seeds maybe slow but slowly more wood producers
-all the seeds have to be used
-once seeds used have to sell the wood

Does anyone see it yet? we are all in his global strategy to be the first trillionar!

Well i dont mind. Was just impressed at his genious!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eh i am thinking i should change the topic name? any suggestions?

I am thinkin "CMB a puzzle to ponder or a just plain lucky?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

rite a quick update on my company stats....

miss calculated expansion:( have 100k left over...always try to keep my cash at hand as minimal as possible to maximise effency.....
Until the day you don't have enough cash on hand to start your factories or to sell on the market, and you have to wait anxiously for someone to come approve your contracts.

*holds up hand* - I do that at least once a week.

Luckily, I rely on the kindness of strangers, and steel. Mainly the steel.

[quote]I have been looking for contracts for my q5 wood and guess what? Every serious buyer is quoting the same ridicules price of 37+0.5*Q.

The cheapest price for Q5 wood in market after taxes is 45. But because of the large companies

There is no trick. People pay the real price.

POWER PRICE THROUGH THE ROOF!

Whats the reason for it?
Does this this mean a increase in prices in the overall market?

YOUR THOUGHTS MATTER!
