This rule exists for sellers protection - so random forum members couldn't send bogus bids. It also prevents seller outbidding low bidders to increase the revenue.
In this case however company that failed to identify itself outbid previous valid bidder.
Should Freeway or any other bidder still want to buy the stock he could protest Bilge's bid and get it cancelled.
Since Freeway(valid high bidder) is not interested in winning this auction anymore then accepting Bilges bid as valid will not hurt any other bidders nor sellers interests.
So I personally think that Bilges bid should be accepted as valid.
If someone says that rules say differently then I am sorry for this person - rules are not needed when there is enough common sense and common sense right know says that Bilge should purchase the stock.
P.S. I am sure that Bilge's company name can be extracted from his/her previous posts.
but now referring to this matter: I do not have in mind how many sellers lost lots of money as they accepted bids from nicks which did not gave their company names. But afterwards, nobody was able to find this company.
You are sure, that his company could have been taken from a previous post? Then let me tell you, that I looked up all posts coming from Bilge, and if I would have found the company name in one of his posts, I would have edited his bidding post... And be informed that I am doing this each time when there is a bid by newbies who do not know the forum and forget to post their company names!
And finally: nobody said that Bilge is not allowed to give another bid! He just had to give his company name with his new bid... nothing more...
It will remain as it is (with an account by Bilge or without it...): The last bid was that of Free-Way... but nobody says, that the parties are not allowed to communicate between each others.
Now I would like to ask you to stop these discussions here. They will have just one effect: mixing up the thread... if you want to discuss this issue, pls open another thread in the General Forum.
edit by Tycoon: just to complete this issue: I am furthermore sending pms to all newbies forgetting their company name in an auction to enter the name into the signature and informing them that their bid has not been accepted. And in my opinion there is nothing we mods can do more on this...
