Is steel really bad, for newbies.

I have (for steel production) set aside 5 mines, 2 factory, well and powerplant.

3 mines get coal. 100 per hour ea(200)
1 mine get iron ore.
1 mine gets minerals and iron ore (50%/50%)

powerplant keeps producing power

well keeps producing water.

factory 1 produces steel
factory 2 produce minerals/steel(25%/75%)

so my expensises are only on power/water.

1 steel =280 power(in total, including power used in mines and factories)
1 steel =50 water(in total, including water used in mines and factories)
1 steel =17 cap production costs (in total, includingproduction costs in mines and factories)

so i used my powerplant and well and produce more than enough @ 0.02 for power and 0.02 for water

280*0.02=76
60*0.02=17

so in total 1 steel=110

profit margin around 24 per steel.

so you make around 800 per day

and sell at 134

(24 caps profit)

so thats 19,200 caps.

and the good thing is it wont sit in your warehouse for long.

so is steel realy ad for newbies

Well, I dont think steel is a profitable business. You should try power, water and stone production. If you cant sell your factories, use them to produce gas which is very good profit, and I can buy it from you 8).

If you just used your 5 mines to make stones you would make 316,000 caps a day profit.
If you want me to take you under my wing and guide you in the right direction I will. just send me an igm.

the thing is that with all those buildings you make little profit compared to how much you invested in the buildings. you are better off with producing stones in your mines than coal/iron ore/minerals and then chemicals/steel in your factory.

now, i understand you are so very proud of your abilities to calculate some numbers, but you might want to read and understand this beauty first (its for your own good ;))

special buildings

Post by Guest » 04.09.2009, 09:11

i read that.

i dont produce steel.

its just everyone says its realy bad.

and unprofitable.

and i aim to pay 25% of the building within 10 days.

because 75% of building value is given back if sold to NPC.

and now im a small buiness man :)

special buildings...help

To skip to this point...YES, IT IS...

There are several flaws in your post.
First you claim you make a profit cuz you produce it all yourself.
But how about producing your power and selling it?
You will get 0.25 each without a problem, but you use it to produce steel and value it at 0.02 each.
Result: your power plant doesn't make a profit.
Now why would you build a power plant when you aren't making a profit??
However, Power is very expensive so by selling it you can make a huge profit.

Second, you value power at 0.02.
Why 0.02??
You happen to be producing it in a yellow (Saudi-Arabia/Oman) Power plant?
If so, big mistake.
Power is produced in either red or green areas.
Green area producing power only cost you 0.01 each, which is less then Yellow.
Tho producing in red is more expensive (0.03) you get a 33% bonus allowing you to make a lot more profit.
You are currently in realm 1 where power value is around 0.25 forever, so i advise you to only build in Red for good profit or green for a quick start due to cheaper buildings.
However you must change to red buildings within a few power plants if you intend to produce a lot of power.

Power is great business to get a start in realm 1.

Like Podge wrote, let your mines produce stones.
Better profit, high demand.

Some great items to start.

Power
Stones
Water
Wood

Stay away from the various factories at the start and do as Greed wrote in another thread, build research buildings and research before you start producing.

I make

Potatoes 4000 per day. sell in grocery. Highest quality on kapilands :)

Stones 6000 per day

Gold (for watches)

Power ( Little bit more than i need)

Water (Little more than i need)

Seeds (Little mre than i need)

Cotton 1000-2000 per day

Wood 1000 per day

Oil(for gas)

Gas ( i sell all of them in sale building) not sure how much around 5,000-30,000

Golden watches ( i sell all of them in sale building) about 70 per day.

and i wrote 0.02 because its always good to incorperate slack.

but that half the price it costs to make steel.

What Q gold and watches do you produce ?
Cuz without a decent level of research those items are terrible and almost impossible to make a profit.

q12.

sell them in turkey.

average price and average quality for the area.

i make about 50% profit.

50% profit? that doesnt tell anything. tell us rather how much money do you make per day, or daily per worker in your production chain, that is a much better indicator of profits. because you know, you can make 50% profit on one cair in 4 days, and its 25k, while 10% on 1000 wardrobes in 1 day could mean 400k

Forget about steel, whereas other raw materials such as power, water, wood and stone are profitable big time
