Yes, litterally it means don't get annoyed.

"Oil and Water do not mix."

Look at Realm I; both water and power prices are very close to the NPC price. I think that's also how realm II is going to look like in the future. The reasons are very simple; producing power and water is extremely boring. It's just a supply/demand problem; not enough people want to make it and lots of people need it.

To make things worse oil and water are produced in the same building. In the long run this makes oil more profitable because it's possible to increase quality. The fact that gas is a very popular product doesn't make things better either.

I have multiple solutions for this water problem. First; i do not buy water from the market, instead i produce it myself and simply pretend the market doesn't exist. Currently i'm using two wells to produce my own water and two wells to produce my oil. Surely im not going to pay $0.15 for water. Come back when it's down to $0.10.

Secondly, don't tell new players gas is a profitable business. Higher demands for oil means less capacity is available for water production. Currently i think water (and power) are a really good business for new players. On realm I i was able to build 13 power plants within 3 days time, making an estimated profit of around 700.000 a day. On Realm II this is about 350.000 i think. For water the numbers are about the same.

If the water price is lower the food industry will benefit a lot. Perhaps if more people go into the food industry and start producing water to support it the price of water will go down? In Realm I im planning to use 20 building spaces for my food industry and a bunch of wells to supply the water. Profitable or not!

Why ignore an entire industry only because you make a little less profit? I think the food industry is the most fun because currently its possible to have a monopoly (and be the largest producer) on a bunch of products.

About beer;

I didn't stop producing beer. I have a 50m2 beverage factory, two 50m2 retail stores and a 50m2 research center that i use to experiment with retail prices and strategy. When i pretend the market doesn't exist i still make a profit of around $17.500 a day with an ROI of 40 days. :-(

Euhm...
So we shouldn't tell people what is the best business to make a profit cuz it makes other businesses less profitable?

Don't you think that sounds a bit silly yourself??

then a least tell them: "You should do water/power cuz its more profitable for the game if you do that instead of gas which makes the best profit but spoils the game for some other business"..

To add to what Ronintje said, water is available from the NPC. Why not tell new players what industries are profitable and include gas? Gas isn't as good as some industries but it is much better than producing power or water.
