Beer VS Water: Mistake from beginner

Post by Guest » 21.07.2009, 11:16

(based on realm II, realm I is worse)

The average price for Beer in retail stores in the last few days is $14.50.

Corn can be produced for $0.32 at its lowest. The real value of corn mostly depends on the value of water and seeds. Looking at the current market prices for water ($0.17) and seeds ($0.29) the real value of corn is $1.99. Assuming a price of $0.10 for water and $0.20 for seeds the value of corn would be $1.20. If you manage to sell this corn for the current market price (+/- $2-$3) the value of corn would be higher.

Beer can be produced for $4.48 at its lowest. The real value of beer mostly depends on the value of corn. The current value of corn is $1.99 making the value of beer at least $19.90. Assuming a value of $1.20 for corn the value of beer would be at least $12. If selling corn for the market price the value of beer would be +/- $20 - $30.

So, why is beer not profitable?

The problem is water. The price of water is too high. Just by making water cheaper (from $0.17 to $0.10) the value of corn would drop enough to make selling beer slightly profitable. Currently, selling water gives a minimum profit of $25.000 a day. Even when the value of water is $0.10 a liter it's not possible to make more then $4.000 profit a day selling beer.

Another way to look at Beer: 1 Beer = 100 Water

The same is true for other products;
1 Cattle = 650 Water
1 Pigs = 650 Water
1 Lambs = 550 Water

Tip: Even when Water sells for $0.10 on the market you can make a minimum profit of $15.000 a day.

Have Fun!
Roach

You must have something lacking in your real life Greed if you feel you need to big yourself up in an online game

ps.
What would be worse, bigging yourself up in an online game like Greed does or trying to big yourself by thrashtalking people who at least show they understand the basics of the game??

I know the answer, I know it! *very proud!* ;)

But please be fair and stick to the original topic, please, and avoid personal, impertinent antipathy in the public sections. Thanks.

I don't think Greed or anyone else try to big themselves up in this game.
Just because they know the basics of the gameplay?
That would be terrible if that was the biggest accomplishment of their life..
And I really don't believe that is the case with Greed or anyone posting regularly on this forum.
Don't know how you come up with such an idea podge.

Does this not indicate that 99% of players don't know what they are doing ?

There's no need to answer, I know I will be wrong.

And it is true, no kidding, maybe not 99 % but at least half of the players don't really know what they are doing.
I don't know what I am doing either on many occasions, as you might have noticed by my posts lately I am still learning to play this game properly, and I am still in the dark about some aspects of the game even though I played for 1,5 years now.
(And I am not ashamed of that either, people can call it stupid, I don't care, as long as I don't know the answers to my questions I will keep asking and learning.)
To me it is actually one of the appealing aspects of this game, the longer you play the more you discover it isn't as easy as you thought when you just started. :D

So yes, Greed has a point.

I am with GREED, isn't it great to see others understand the game. I wish most people would stop thinking that because they produced it themselfs it was saving them money. (Kind of on topic as kakkerlak pointed out both sides.) :D

Greed is right he just puts more of a blunt point on it than others do. As Sally said seemingly the majority of people are just plodding along producing water or somesuch because somebody else said they should, that dont mean their dumb or stupid it just means they havent progressed far enough to get the basic handle on the factors behind moneymaking and production. This game is geared towards economics (roughly I know) and thats a hard enough subject to get across in a RW classroom let along a game :D. So the few people who can see what is working and have enough incentive to try and fix the industries that are unviable simply because water is too high should be encouraged. Its been suggested b4 and I dont think its going to get very far but good luck/idea anyway :P And yes, and how do you know your not one of the 5?

If 99% of people dont know how to play this game 99.99% of people did not understand that, or course however i happend to be in that 0.01%

[EDIT by GoldenEye: Sorry, but you took my answer out of the context. Better read it again, but don't comment it. ;)]
