Market vs. Store

Post by Guest » 05.07.2009, 05:55

Is there an advantage of selling something in a department store versus selling it on the market? I've noticed it takes waaaayyy longer to sell something in my grocery store rather than just putting something on the market. Am I doing something wrong or using the market and stores the wrong way? Thanks for the advice!

You have to pay a 10% fee to sell on the market and that's on top of the fact that we're talking about finished goods which you must price cheaply enough for someone else to sell in a store.

also if you fill your stores with advertisments you will sell at a lot higher price than without ads.. Maybe that is the reason for your long time selling..

The reason it takes so long to sell may be that a grocery store only sells foodproducts, and foodproducts are difficult to make a profit with, when you set the price to high it takes ages to sell, set it to low and you barely make a profit.
The only thing that sells well in a grocery is good quality beef.
I sell beef for 60 to 80 caps each and profit is not great, but better then any other foodproduct.

Dont forget that when you sell a product to another player they will only buy it if its priced low enough to sell for a better price.
Also as your Q rises it will sell faster and the extra price rarely cover that

Keep in mind the extra capital you need to invest in stores to attain the higher price though.

True, also take into acount the fact that stores might not make as much as your more basic industires such as it may be better at lower level (the more you lvl up the less each building produces) to build on production type areas then go into stores when you have enough to make a good go of it.
