What good are reputation points?

Hi, I was wondering if I should compete in the contest, and I was wondering if reputation points have any more use besides ranking.

Reputation points have no use, besides the ranking.

If you can get a contest certificate for very cheap, it may be good if you know someone will buy it from you for more than you had to pay for the flax. But if everyone tries to sell his contest certificate, the price will be very low or maybe you don´t even find a buyer. In that case it might be better to sell the flax, instead of sending to the contest.
