I can't get this song out of my head

Country music is nice, but it's more my fathers music than mine. I love having a drink with dad in the cool of the afternoon. He will put some songs on and force me to listen to his old time favorites, which is fine by me as long as he is buying the beer.

We've been talking about beer and shady dealings in some of the sales markets so I am not surprised to find that this morning, I can't get this song out of my head. Slim Dusty is not Slim Shaddy! Although in his day he was a bit of a Slim Shaddy. Slim Dusty is an Australian icon of cultural barn dances (we call them Rave parties now). :? I can't work out why we call them "Rave's". The one's that I have been to it is impossible to rave to anyone the music is so loud.

I think the most important line to remember in this song is:
We drink in moderation.
Mainly so we don't break furniture, but the day after is more enjoyable as well.
Duncan - by Slim Dusty

I love to have a beer with Duncan
I love to have a beer with Dunc.
We drink in moderation
And we never ever ever get rollin' drunk
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Duncan
'Cause Duncan's me mate, yeah

I love to have a beer with Colin
I love to have a beer with Col.
We drink in moderation
And it doesn't really matter if he brings his doll
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Colin
'Cause Colin's me mate, mm-mm-mm

I love to have a beer with Kevin
Oh I love to have a beer with Kev.
We drink in moderation
And he drives me home in his big old Chev.
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Kevin
'Cause Kevin's me mate

I love to have a beer with Patrick
I love to have a beer with Pat
We drink in moderation
And it wouldn't really matter if the beer was flat
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Patrick
'Cause Patrick's me mate - Change key

I love to have a beer with Robert
I love to have a beer with Bob
We drink in moderation
Just one more and back on the job
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Robert
'Cause Robert's me mate

I love to have a beer with Duncan
Oh I love to have a beer with Dunc.
We drink in moderation
And we never ever ever get rollin' drunk
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Duncan
'Cause Duncan's me mate.

That song reminds me of another great song about beer.
I bang on the door
but she won't let me in
cuz you're sick and tired of
me reeking of gin.
lock all the doors
from the front to the back
and left me a note
telling me I should pack

I walk in a bar
and the fellas all cheer
they order me up
a whiskey and beer
you ask me why
im writing this poem
some call it tavern
I call it home

**** you im drunk
**** you im drunk
pour all my beer down the sink
I’ve got more in the trunk
**** you im drunk
**** you im drunk
and I’m going to be drunk
til the next time im drunk

you’ve given me option
you say I must choose
between you and the liqueur
then I’ll take the booze
jumpin on western down to the west side
for I’ll sit down
and exercise my Irish pride

**** you im drunk
**** you im drunk
pour all my beer down the sink
I’ve got more in the trunk
**** you im drunk
**** you im drunk
and I’m going to be drunk
til the next time im drunk
I wish i was Irish!
