Financial statement needs some refinement

Ideas how the game could be improved and suggestions for subsequent versions of the game. (this is just a space for ideas! We can't guarantee suggestions will be implemented!)

There would be lots of work connected with this and I doubt that this will be realized as the financial statement is just a minor part of the game.
well, itd be easy to seperate them from the warehouse section and the contracts section. but they can just be added in the financial statement of the warehoues inventory until they are sold. but i have the same problem - i find my fluxuating finances problematic until i sell things ... when i jump up ... then produce, when i take a dive.
I think -- although I haven't gotten this far into Accounting yet -- that is the case for some businesses as well, mainly contractors.

They make money, but they often go bankrupt due to cashflow issues.

Keep more cash on hand.

'the financial statement is just a minor part of the game'

Surely in a business related game like this then the accounts are the most integral part of running your empire?

The way the financial statement is handled right now, its a minor part of the game.

I can't even make sense of it.

Probably because its not even formatted right...

I disagree that the financial statement is a minor part of the game. The financial statement is key in determining your total assets for moving between levels. Given how much things change when you move up a level (production rates decrease, new options appear), the correct calculation of your net worth is very important.

Sorry, maybe my wording was wrong on this...

In the first versions of this game, there was only one kind of financial statement: turnover and costs. Nothing more.

The third version then contained the financial statement including a breakdown of the major kinds of costs and turnover you can get.

When saying, the financial statement is just a minor part of the game I meant, that they emphasized more on production lines, shops, advertising, etc. so the "practical" side of playing the game.

I know that a balance, including P&L acct includes more than we have now. But on the one hand you are able to get a basic idea of your finances through this statement and on the other hand the efforts of implementing a real balance sheet would be too high (in some cases impossible).

One example for this is the thing with outstanding contracts, so debts and liabilities and the warehouse. Another thing is, that you would have to think about write offs and things like that. (these are the first things which came into my mind... too early right now :D )So it won't be possible anyway to get a RL-balance and in my personal opinion we now have the most important issues stated in there. You can easily see, e.g., your company's value with regards to the next level, your turnover done by contracts, shops, market etc.

Depreciation would be fun to build in too....imagine someone not expanding their buildings anymore and actually sliding backwards down through the levels....it would be good incentive to keep playing!

Yes, but still not desired by the inventor... we have to accept that: Everybody should find his company as he left it after having a break...
