this was all put on by the same person (name has been removed) - but all those on now can prolly check the market lol

can we please add a feature that only allows u to sell a maximum amount of trades in the market to stop the flooding by 1 person? it could be worse, as having it all 1 unit each - but this is just crazy ... i have no idea how many a max should be ... maybe 10 max? or even 3 max per item (like 3 of corn, 3 of oil, 3 of steel etc) -> that could also prevent those trades that just sit on the market (1 corn for 100,000,000 caps)

i think u misunderstood me ...
i say u should only be able to have 3 different sales of 1 item sitting on the market ... like if u wanted to sell 1500 wood ... u could put it on the market 500 wood, 500 wood, 500 wood... but u couldnt do a 4th market sale of wood until 1 of them sold. but u could put on power with those 3 sales of wood.

hope that clears it up

also - u cannot make more than 1 account. that will get u deleted EASY :P

There is a limit in how often you can post products on the market. Without a premium account this is limited to 20, I do, however, not have the figure for the premium users...

you can make a second account but not trade between the accounts
like in my family i have an account and my brother has one too
and we don`t get deleted because we do not trade between us

Would it be possible/ feasible to lower that limit? A limit of three would be more than sufficient for one type of goods. You also could say a maximum of three per quality, and a total maximum of, say, ten.

Right now it's just annoying to see people posting six times 100.000 power e.g, without being able to filter these companies out.

Proposal:
1. Restrict the number of posts of products to three posts per quality, and ten posts per item.

or

2. Make a button which would allow you to 'blacklist' specific companies. They disappear from your list, you don't see them, they don't annoy you. If they have a good offer, and you do not see it because of that, that's bad luck, own choice. If you do not wish to block, fine as well.

It would not block these companies from buying from you, although I can imagine there are people who do not wish to trade with some companies at all.

And sorry in case it was discussed somewhere else. Checked for "flooding", didn't find anything similar, except this post.

Take care,
Pamaraj.

I'm in favor of pulling up old threads when it's the best one on the subject. There have been more recent discussions but this is a good one.

I'm in favor as much as anyone of putting an end to these streams of continuous offers. I've tried sending IGMs to those people, but they never answer. (Probably because their inbox is flooded with a thousand Marketplace messages.) I also try to ignore them. Unfortunately not everyone does, but if we could get those market floods to stick around to the next day, they'd hit their cap immediately and realize the what they had done.

We would want to avoid hurting people who naturally cover a lot of products, but I suppose a per-item limit could be the fix (if more complicated). But then I still worry a little if someone produces multiple qualities. I've no desire to limit people who make serious sales attempts and just don't find quick buyers.

Thanks for your quick reply Knolls.

It is true that real traders could be limited if making more different qualities, for which reason I suggested to limit per quality but also per product (you could even think of a total limit, which goes too far for me btw.)

1. At the moment, the floods are often seen in power and water. Six batches of 100.000 is often seen. As it is Q0, quality does not matter here. In that case, people would have a limit of, say, three posts for power.

If you put it too high, and the market drops, you might get a problem. However, if I put 1.000.000 0,15 on the market, and the minimum is 0,10, I have two more 'slots' for putting two batches - as large as I can offer - for 0,09. I don't see a problem here. The big players usually won't be bothered by this. They just put one huge batch on the market.

2. Now, if we talk about wood for example: If I have Q0, Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q6 wood.

-First of all: Many people offer it by contract;
-Second: Of these five qualities two product posts each can be offered. Well, I would consider that sufficient. Small players don't have that many qualities, and the big ones can offer large amounts. Why would they need to put six times 5000 wood Q3 on the market? If the offer is competitive enough there is no need to.

It still is a game. And a competitive element in the game, by way of watching out how you offer your goods wouldn't be something which I consider necessarily disadvantageous for large players.

In case anyone would bring up the 'free market':
It is impossible to have a free market with an NPC (which I favour btw). (In real life, I don't see truly free markets. Only protectionism by way of import quota and subsidies.)

I just put in an ad for power and I clicked 0.9 instead of 0.09.
This power I assume will never sell. Does that mean I'm permanently one down on my ad limit?
Can't you somehow make a way of deleting ads that get too old?

You can buy your power back yourself. You only lose your transport costs then.

Go to the market, click on "Own Ads" (or find it manually), click "Buy" where your own ad is displayed. Now the wares are put back in your warehouse.

Yes, it would mean one ad less, but not permanently: You namely can buy it back.

Not sure I really want to buy power at almost a dollar a pop!!!
That's why I suggested perhaps really old ads could be deleted.

Buying your own adds form the marketplace doesn't cost anything. You just get it back.
You loose the 10% market fee but you lost it already when you put it on the marketplace.
This way you could at least get your stuff back.

I think that this kind of limit would be good.
