Having a lot of fun, and doing pretty well for myself in the game. To get started, I've mostly focused on producing large amounts of power, building up an infrastructure to get some money to spend when I decided to branch out.
Now I feel I'm ready, but I was wondering what the general consensus was for building Research Centers? I know it says that they research 20% faster in red (industrial) zones, but that doesn't necessarily make it the best - I learned that building power plants in green (farming) zones.
Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, a 20% faster research time is very useful.
The research time will be 20% less, so
Instead of
846 days, 00 hours, 25 minutes (In a green RC)
It would only take
676 days, 19 hours, 23 minutes s (In a red RC)
To research Q127 with 3274 workers.
So you see at the most extreme example, you save about 6 months.
And at that maximum size of the building, you only spend 50 mio more for the Red than for the Green RC.
