After you build the TV station what is required to make advertisments and how long does it take to make one.

Advertising is an odd product, the power demand per unit is very high, and the production cost is very high, and it takes forever to produce ads.

I built a TV station in green, no expansion, just so it can sit there and generate ads for my stores, and nothing more. It's a slow process, I get about 100 ads a day, but I figure it's 100 ads a day I am not having to buy, and eventually, I will produce enough for my stores to run well. Ads are permanent, so there isn't a concern with how long this takes, it will just accumulate over time.

hey guys I am new in game. What kind of store I need to sell Advertisements? Please help me

No Store

Post by Guest » 14.02.2007, 20:13

I think there is NO STORE because IT IS USED IN ALL STORES to make the selling faster. Use it in your (other) stores or sell it on free market.

I'm buying for (Q+1)*80c because one advertisement of quality Q actually produces (Q+1) advertisement points and 80c per point seems to be appropriate price.

The production cost increases if you produce in a higher quality.

Or do you mean the average cost written inside the warehouse? This takes also the price of the used materials, in this case the used power, into account. But overall the price shown in the warehouse is pretty unreliable.

Advertisments are a product which i would not advise to produce, especially as a beginner.
The reason is that buying ads only becomes profitable if the ads are either incredible cheap or expanding the stores becomes very expensive.
Ads reduce the time needed to sell a certain amount of products in a store. If a store contains 40k advertisment-points it will sell at half the time. But actually the same effect can be achieved by doubling the number of employees. So if i have a store with 20sq.m. buying enough ads to fill it with 40k ad-points has the same effect as expanding it to 40sq.m. But the second is far cheaper than the first one. So if you want to make profit with producing and selling ads one of the following has to occur (likely at some time both thing will occur)
1. The price/ad-point gets pretty low
This makes the "buy 40k ad-points"-option cheaper. It can only be achieved by increasing the quality of your ad as for every quality the ad will produce an additional ad-point.
2. The stores get big
Doubling the space in a store which is 200 sq.m. is a lot more expensive than doubling the space in a 20sq.m. store. But as the realm is pretty young only few people will have this big stores.

So you either have to invest a lot of money in resarching or wait a lot of time for the stores getting bigger, before you can make real money with selling advertisments.

Advertisment are actual the only product where i would say "don't produce this".

In one of the versions I played up to now, I built my own TV station and media RC. Researched advertisements, but not too high, produced my own advertisements for my shops and after I had most of them filled with them, I sold the TV station and research center and of course the research on advertisements ;-)

I also think, doing trade with advertisement only brings profit, if you have one of the highest qualities available during the whole time.

@Tycoon : can u help me to understanding how Advertisement work?

i've 2 store in different area[ 1 red, 1 green] but the demand on green area is bigger than the red one. I use 40 adv Q-6 in red area n 50 adv Q-6 in green area store. but the selling time between both of them is very far.
could u explain about advertisement again....

Thx 4 your time & sorry 4 my english

Hi,
I suppose that your stores are not big enough that advertisements could have a real effect.

First of all you can calculate your advertising points, as each store has a limit of 40,000 advertising points. (this is no issue at the moment, but can help you later on ;-) ): you can put more than 40,000 points into the store, but it does not have any effect on the sales. As you cannot take advert. out of a store, this is just like throwing away advertisements *gg*

You now have q6 ads. This means: each unit has 7 points (q+1). So you have 40x 7 points in one store = 280 points.

First of all the sales time depends on the size of the store. A store with less than 100 m2 won't show a shorter time if you have advertising points in it. (or at least the effect is not really remarkable). Than 280 points are like one water drop in an ocean. You need much more of them.

And there is one more point: sales stores in green do not sell like those in red! Even if the demand figures would be the same in both areas, you would sell faster in the red area.

I will try to get some figures on this for you on advertisements and the green stores... and will come back to this thread a little later on...

My personal opinion: yes... I would sell the store... but that's really just my point of view. You can earn much more money if you sell in the red area first.

I sold all my shops in the green area, as they really were "just-for-fun", even with a size of aprox 8k m2. You have to invest lots of material and money into the expansion but still don't sell nearly as fast as in another area.
(my experience: yellow shops may sell better than red ones if the demand is nearly fully met in the red shops...)

Now advertisements again:
40.000 points will sell your products in half the time you would need, if you had 0 points in the store...
That means: 3,000 points will sell 4% faster than with 0 points... so you see that 280 points don't really bring too much effect... ;-)

So far, the best markets seem to be in red. Some items in yellow and green are in demand and not many stores are meeting them, but most all of the yellow and green market prices are lower than the red areas. I assume this changes over time, but it would have to change significantly for a yellow or green to have a stronger market than the red.

I am glad to know this about advertising, I thought it would speed selling by bringing more customers to the store... silly me, huh? Anyway, I have a TV Station in Mali at 20m, and no plans to expand it. I also invested in research for Media, because I could see that q0 ads were practically useless on the market, and you can gain better ad points per hour by producing higher quality ads. My thinking on the TV Station was to fuel my own sores with ads cheaper than I could buy them at market. Come to find, they are expensive as hell to produce, I can't see how anyone is selling them and making a good return. Now that I understand the effect of ads, I am going to lower that on my priority list.
