ok, this is another question...

I have gas tech 14 and Mr. X has 20

If Mr. X sends me a cotract with his research level and I, before accepting it, send him my research level, what happens?

Mr X will have 14 and me 20????

You don't "lose" the research until the trade is complete. So, whoever accepts first gets the research and the other loses his/her research.
