Beds
elements:
10 Piece Wood =10*38=380
5 kg Steel = 5*134=670
3 kg Textiles = 3*200=600
500 kWh Power = 500*0.07=35

380+670+600+35=1685

take a look at the average price on the 3 red countrys and you will see if its a good idea or not.

You could go with wardrobes so you don't have to worry about textiles. These are very profitable!

Personal I dont think Beds or Wardrobes are a good idea, as your profit margin can disappear if a wood contest were to turn up.

I would go for Steel, Leather or Textiles, Stones or Power assuming you are a brand new company.

Your argument doesn't stand up I'm afraid!! If there was a wood contest - furniture manufacturers would still do very well since they mostly produce their own wood (well, I do anyway). But also any product line is "at risk" using your reasoning!!
eg. I wouldn't go into leather or textiles since they could become a contest product!!!

What I meant was that currently
Wardrobes sell for 1550c in the faxes(which is where any extra product is going to go, i refer to it as CM)
Now a Wardrobe needs
20 wood @ 35c (your net gain if you were to sell at the market/faxes) = 700
5 steel @ 133 = 665
600 Power @ 0.08 = 48
Construction cost 1 @ 5(in green) = 5
Total = 1418c
A profit of 130c a Wardrobe, but if Wood were to rise to 42c (Which it was last week), or even power to rise by 0.09c. Your Production costs would higher than your CM.

As for the leather and texiltes, if a contest happens for one, you're in the money and if it happens for the raw materials of one you can switch to the other.

OK, I see what you're saying, but it would be crazy to sell wardrobes for that price on the faxes, Most furniture manufacturers would have furniture shops and I try and sell my Q4 wardrobes above 2000 in the furniture shop.
Also, like I said before, why buy wood when you could grow your own. If furniture is your main production line, or course you'd have 20 or more plantations!
If you have to buy excess wood, then yes, contests could boost the price of wood. But you only have to look at the top 20 reaseaches of the game to see that furniture (and in particular wardrobes) are a highly profitable and in my opinion stable production line.

Huh, didn't know that, I usually rely on fax prices to determine if I'm going to enter a industry.

As for the wood thing, What I meant is that sometimes it may be more profitable to sell your wood to the market then use it to produce furniture.
A good example would be with the making car and car products you are allmost allways better off selling the steel for 133 then using it for your products

This could be one good reason to diversify a bit.

If a wood contests starts eating up your profit, but you have this industry over here that makes say, electronics, your profits won't crash altogether.

Well, on the faxes people buy tables for 200.
7*38= 266 (Wood)
300*0.07=21 (power)
16.60*prod (Q5)
Total= 303

And I sell these in furniture shops for 500. 250% more than on faxes!! And as you can see, I'd lose money by selling them on faxes!

There's a thread in "User to User" called "Need a banner?" and someone is kindly offering to make them for people.
