Resource output & Production Output.
I got a few question here.
1) Whats the difference between Red and green area if i want to build a plantation Other then the cost of building.
2) I assume that wells and mines are better to be put in Yellow > Red. Yes or no.
3)What are all the buildings that will benefits from Red areas Other then research buildings.
4) Why people are saying building factory in Green > Red for Steel production?

1) a plantation built in the green area will produce 25% more than in the red area (please click on the "Build" button for that, there you will find the single percentages.
2)Yes, mines and wells should better be built in the yellow area, see the build menu...
3)All factories will have a higher output but also higher production costs in the red area.
4) No idea, I would never build a factory in the green area, but save money to be able to build it in the red area. (steel and electronic factories are excepted from that, because the production is very expensive....)

So if i want to build a steel factory.
if i want to have faster output i will build in red but that cost more and thus less earning.
if i want to have normal output i will build in green but that cost less and thus more earning?
So conclusion only electronic and steel factory should be put in green area.?
Thanks..

But you have to be careful how you view your profit. I initially made the same mistake of calculating my profit per item. But what is important is profit per time.
For example, I found that I can sell products for less profit at a faster rate. If I can produce these products fast enough to keep my shop supplied, I will get more profit/hour selling at a lower price than at a higher price.
So with a producing building in the red area producing units faster, you can actually make more caps by selling at a lower price.

Yes you are right; that's why I build my factories from the beginning on in the red area. (except of the TVs, I do not have an electronic factory in this version of the game, maybe somebody can give you the costs for that in the red area...and maybe I am wrong... because prices here sometime develop in another way than in the other versions...) so it is the best advice to calculate the costs...PolymerTim wrote:But you have to be careful how you view your profit. I think i understand how expand works. it might be wrong but well i'll give it a try here.
2man produce 10 units
3man produce 15 units/
4 man produce 20 units.
8 man produce 40 units.
16 man produces 80 units.
Same as 8 factorys producing 80 units?
This will only be good for research and not producing?
Of course there is a limit on buildings of 60 but heck. If you are only supplying oil. building 60 well is better den expanding.
I might be wrong. Correct me with correct data =) ThankS!

I don't know about that. I saw another post somewhere where the person said there is a small loss in expansions compared to new buildings (so 2 20qm bldgs give a little more than 1 40qm bldg). But I haven't expanded much so I cannot confirm this.
On a related note, I just built my second factory. My first is in a yellow area and the new one is in a red area, but they both have the same production costs and production rate even though the one in the red area costs more to construct. Is this because I am still a Merchant? I thought the red area was supposed to have a bonus in output rates of 25%.

ideally, expansion is cheaper if you can provide your own basic construction supplies. if you can, it is way way cheaper than building another building. however, if you cannot produce your own supplies, nor can you access low priced construction materials, it would be better for you to just get a new building.
Are you really sure that a factory (so the same building) produces in the yellow area the same number of units at the same production price? Could you pls check this again? Do they have the same size?PolymerTim wrote:I don't know about that. I cannot imagine this, but if it is like you say, then we will have to check that.
Edit: a factory in the green area will produce the same amount like one in the yellow area; but the production costs are cheaper in the green area... but it should be a real difference to a red one...
Oops!
I went to double check and found out my original factory was built in a red area even though I thought it was in the yellow area with my mine and well. My mistake. Both of my mines are in red areas. I guess that is good for me in the long run.
About the expansion of a new bldg, even if the cost is lower if you can provide your own materials, you still have to consider the lost profit you could have made from selling the raw materials. When I took this into account for 1 of my bldgs, I determined it was still cheaper to add a second bldg instead of expand another. But this was for one case and may not always be true.
