High End Products - Market flawed?

Post by Guest » 25.07.2007, 00:31

I have a question concerning the more higher-end products, such as monitors, beds, etc.:

I did some calculations on them and they do not at all make sense to produce, since their selling price to NPCs is not much more than half the actual production costs. As an example: Currently, there are a lot of monitors on the player market for around 1,300 - 1,500c. However, the sales price (in stats) to NPCs is around 750 in France/Turkey and even only 633 in Germany.

Bearing in mind that you could sell the "ingredients" individually for a high price at the market, it makes no sense to produce them yourself for making some kind of pseudo "profit" on Monitors.

This is somehow a major flaw in the game mechanics. Now, the next thought I had was: ok, maybe there is oversupply. Bu no, the demand is not even covered by 5%. So how can that be?

Sorry for the "noob" question :)

You can make money by selling Moniters and Televisions, the main problem with your analysis(through no fault of your own) is that the player market, as those items for 1000c+ have probably been there for ages. For example, the actual cost of making a moniter* is around 420c (Qo) which is below the npc prices.

*Moniter cost breakdown
2*plastic @ 70c = 140c
1*glass @ 20c = 20c
1*E-components @ 135 = 135c
500* power @ 0.10c = 50c
production cost(green) = 72c
total = 417c

If there was a problem in the market place, it would be with the jewels production, as you need people to sell you gold and silver below cost in order to make a decent profit, without going into the Jewels retail business itself.
