Rather Noobish Question
I was just curious on what I should start making... this is my first time in the game and I have absolutely no buildings or research. I finished the Tutorial with the food, but I started a new profile seeing as how I didn't think selling food would get me money quick enough.
I was just curious, Should I use the big sellers like Jewelry or Cars? or focus on the smaller things like Gas and Food?
Thanks for your time.

Cars and jewlery are businesses where you can make money only when you are doing them in large scale. Because these items take very long to produce and even longer to sell.
Ideal for starting players are contest products as you can make really a lot of money with them. Disadvantage is that contest for that one product lasts only about 2 weeks.
Making power and water is very easy and gives you steady income without research. The same with stones. You can make fortune during curent contest with mining products and power.
I have no experience with oil - gas business but a lot of players got rich with it.....But I don't know secrets of it

During this contest (two weeks until Friday the 13th of July) just buy power plants and wells. If you are going alright and have 4-5 of each then you should start looking at getting some other buildings mentioned above.
The contest will keep the prices really high for power and water and you will always need them after the contest is finished. After July 13th you should buy buildings that produce things for the next contest.
At the start you need a lot of caps.

I have 3 words for you,
Textile, Textiles, Textiles,
Get a plantation to grow corn and cotton,
Use the cotton to make wool in the cattle ranch,
Use the wool and cotton to make textiles and pullovers,
You can sell them for 100 each and make money out the ass.
I can make my pullovers and sell them for 100 even if I if I buy the wool off the market.
I can make Q3 textiles for $13 if I grow the cotton myself and sell it for $100 on the market.
Leather and cattle as well, even if you find a cow for 100, you can make two pieces of leather out of it and sell it back to the market for 100.
Or use the textiles and leather to turn it into leather jackets and sell for $350 - $400 in stores or market.
Likewise for cotton, you only need 3 cotton to make textiles,
Yes, always good to have your own power plant to lower cost.
And water well too, in Saudi Arabia.
In fact make far more power and water than you need by upgrading and sell the extra for profit.
Gas and Oil are good too.

Steel, Steel, Steel, Steel, and a Mine. That's what I did, and according to my estimates, I make 140K (Net Profit) in about 24 hours.
Oh Noes! Those are the 2 products I'm going to need the most for my steel and coal production. Thank god I stocked up on 100K power for 0.06 the other day.TheSmell wrote:

NO. if i make the cotton it costs me Q3 $1.24Thornsten wrote:What difference does it make if you grow the cotton yourself or not? Still costs the same.dbsuma wrote: I can make Q3 textiles for $13 if I grow the cotton myself and sell it for $100 on the market.
But if I buy it off the market it will cost, right now, Q0 $25.00
so when I turn it into textiles it takes 3 cotton;
3 X $1.24 = $3.72
3 X $25.00 = $75.00
(Just for the material cost.
but that is a high market price for cotton, usually you can find it for around 15ish.
Wool the same, I can make it for Q4 0.60
If people are willing to pay $15.00 for cotton then it costs you $15.00 to use cotton you make yourself in your textiles. Do you see why?dbsuma wrote:NO. if i make the cotton it costs me Q3 $1.24Thornsten wrote:What difference does it make if you grow the cotton yourself or not? words words words
There have been plenty of posts about this topic, but to recap: If you can sell your cotton for $15.00 on the market or via contract, then you must use that figure as your cost when determining profits. The reason is that you could have sold that cotton for $15, so it's worth $15 to you, not $1.24. The same with power and water, you have to figure them as costing 0.08 or whatever the value is right now, not 0.01.
So for your textiles, assuming a market price of 15 for cotton and 0.08 for power, it would cost you:
3 x 15 = 45 for cotton and
350 x 0.08 = 28 for power and
1 x 0.96 = 0.96 for production for a small businessman in green
Total = 73.96 for 1 textile
If cotton sells for 25 on the market then you are actually losing money by turning it into textiles since it would then cost you 103.96 to produce one textile if you're selling textiles for 100. Understand?
