Advertising works in points per store. Each ad is worth 1 point, plus another point per quality. So those q16 ads are wirth 17 points.

Advertisements are used once per store, and the effects last forever. It takes 40,000 points for your store to get "known by 100% of the population." At this point your sales will roughly double - that is you will sell the same amount at the same price in about half the time.

Although you can keep putting ads in a store after 40,000 points, they have no effect. Ads in one store won't care if you change products, but won't be able to help out any other stores.

Since a full set of 40,000 points costs about 2,000,000

A 100% known (40,000 ad points) store will always sell twice as fast as a 0% known (0 ad points) store. Doesn't matter how big it is or if you expand later, you always get that same doubling effect.

it's not exactly twice as fast, it's a little slower

read the newspaper, theres a article there that explains everything about contests.

short version:
to enter the contest: send bread Q1 contracts for 2c to company: contest
to make money out of the contest: send contracts of bread Q1 for 200c+ to players that are trying to win the contest (check the faxes or the forum for potential buyers)

make a food factory in green(120k+mats), flour Q0 is selling above 40 in the market, try to buy the research level 3 of breads from other players, you can make quite a profit just from flour but the bigger profits come from bread as prices are up the 200 mark.

Flour is pushing up still though. True Bread directly is still the better product to make but as they both come out of the same building that just encourages fewer people to make flour, pushing it up again. It's not so bad to be a flour maker, just like it wasn't too shabby to be an E-components maker during the TV contest.

For me the biggest strike against getting into this particular contest is that you're almost certainly going to dump the buildings afterwards. Mines, E-factories, even Fruit Plantations you can make a case for keeping. But when people realize that the bread they could sell during the contest for 200 will only sell to store NPCs for 15, the logical choice will be to tear the building down.

In the game, go to Stats -> Contest, and it has a countdown.
