Hello.

The contests end on fridays, while the new contests are started on a Sunday along with the release of each new KapiTimes issue (ingame newspaper)
When you see the newspaper icon flash on your screen, that's usually a good indication of when the new contest has started, or is about to start very soon. ;)

Good luck in the contest.

Some tips for you and any others:

- Don't try to win them straight away, not only can you not afford to beat the top players until you have tens of billions to throw away, but you will end up losing a fortune (relatively) compared to selling the goods if you could produce them.

- If you could come 25th, or you could come 50th, then come 50th, the final standings mean nothing unless you are up there in the top few winners, it will cost you more, and you will still only get the single contest certificate.

- If you are purchasing the contest product, bear in mind that the amount you buy normally needs to be in the 50-100 million caps range to guarantee a top 100 finish (on server one) and can be much more (on server 2.)

- If you are selling the product, try to use the forums, as always, the prices are volatile, and if you have to reduce an offer several times on the market, you will end up losing money, even at the highly inflated prices.

- Your position in the contest 1 day before it ends means nothing, i personally micro manage, as a lot of big players throw all of their products in at the very last minute, to try to one up the others for first position.

All these warnings and tips aside, just try to have fun, remember, Kapilands is a game :)

Regards,
Unity

If you join in the contest for the same reason I used to, (I can no longer participate in contests :P) which is as someone who wants to join in the contest to keep the prize rather than sell it, make sure you don't spend all your money on buying the products, as you don't really get any money in return.

The contest-product price always goes up, and will be very expensive in the first week, then it slowly goes down in the second week.
So you'd spend a lot of money on buying the product, but you only get 1 to 3 caps back for each item you sell to the "contest" company.

So if you play to keep the prize, know that any money you put into it, you won't be getting back,
so don't spend your last dime on it if you're buying the product from other players. ;)

If you can produce the contest product, you can either join in the contest to try and get a prize, or sell the item to other players for maximum profit.
Selling should be through the forums like Unity suggested, or through contracts with players in-game.
the risk of a price dropping on the market is too big, and buying your own expensive products out of the market to re-sell them at a cheaper price, makes you lose money. Both the forum or making deals in-game will reduce that risk.
What I've seen some people do is selling a small amount on the market, and when someone buys them, they IGM the person to ask if they want more through contracts, that's a good way to find possible buyers.

I played a few contests back in the day, got myself a total of 6 contest certificates and 1 bronze medal. :D
Contests are a lot of fun, but if it's a product that you cannot produce yourself, you end up burning a lot of cash if you join in on it.

That's my 2 cents, some of it is similar to what Unity already said, but maybe a little more detailed. ;)

You can make them on the following websites:
www.kapibanner.de (German banners, they also work for accounts on the English realms)
and www.kapitools.de (English banners)

Feel free to ask any questions you want on the forum. ;)
It'd be best to start new topics for new questions, though.

One point is the contest isnt monthly but roughly fortnightly if your a fairly new company its always worth leaving 10/20 building slots empty just to produce contest products for each contest thats pretty much how i started in the game selling to other players. :)

Yep, Contests run for slightly less than 14 days... they run for 13 days :P
There's always a one-day gap while the newspaper is being created.

Week 1: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat,
Week 2: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.

The contest ends on friday night
Then on saturday the next issue of KapiTimes is edited and coded,
and the next contest starts when KapiTimes is released on sunday:

Week 3: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat,
Week 4: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.

And it goes on and on and on like that. :P
