Hmmm, not sure how you did your math, but here's how I calculate the top quality (from the bottom up is easiest):
Seeds(127) + Water(0) / 2 = q63 Seeds
Corn(127) + Seeds(63) + Water(0) / 3 = q63 corn
Cattle(127) + Corn(63) + Water(0) / 3 = q63 cattle
And yeah, research gets very slow and expensive. It seems like for every few research points, you have to double your RC size to maintain a decent rate of research.
And just for fun, here is some info I got from kapitools:
The max you can build a research building is 32767. This would cost between 380 and 740 million caps depending on your level assuming you buy all materials at current market value. This building would take 341 days to complete expansion. This max RC would allow you to have 3274 scientists, whose salaries would cost you just under 10 million caps. Once you had the max number of scientists, researching from q0 to q127 would only take 676 days at a cost of 3.3 billion caps.
So the summary is, with an investment of only 4 billion caps and 2.8 years, you too can have a q127 research! Has anyone reached a q127 even in the German version? Or how high did they go?
