What happened with this new contest?

Hey folks, Opus here, and I'd like to talk about the most recent contest, Cars 1.

Fortunately, I remember being here last year when Cars were a contest item. In fact, it helped me bounce back from financial straights (in-game) because I pulled a newbie mistake by expanding all of my profitable buildings, except my car factory. However, I remember the opening prices starting at 1 million per car, which slid down to about 180k per car.

This time however, the game seems less populated, and the opening price of cars was massively inflated. Starting at 4 million a car. In fact, by my own admission, when I contacted kingrewt in Realm 2 (when I noticed he was in 3rd place already), he offered me 4 million per car as well. Unfortunately, I still had cars in production that wouldn't be done for 12 hours.

12 hours later, the price of cars halved, and I couldn't ethically hold kingrewt to that price. In fact, I sold cars at 1 million, 900k, 750k, 650k, 550k, and 500k before I stopped manufacturing contest cars. There are only about 1000 cars of mine floating out there, bought by several contestants. So I switched to making tires.

I managed to buy some rubber, before the price of rubber ramped up. At 2k per tire, I've sold over 60k tires via contract and the market. But now even the tire sales have come to a screeching halt. So I decided to make some Q0 engines, put them out there for 23k, thinking that was still a decent price for regular manufacturing. Again, nada (nothing).

Just 24 hours ago, as soon as I was putting out car parts, they sold within an hour of posting.

Does this mean car builders are getting way better deals, or are they already going broke, or is it something else entirely?

It's as if this contest is really showing Kapilands shrunken player population, even in Realm 2. Or is this notion wrong?

Any thoughts?

I don't think its wierd or anything :)
Cars are a very expensive product, so probobly the one that will get the first place will be a producer of them, that's why the big players probobly desided to hold back on this contest.

first ranked in Realm one has 2,222 cars and that cost him atleast 6bil
a maxed car factory, trill level produces 6.7k cars a day!
so far in realm one ther was sent a total of less then 10k cars
the outpot is much, much over the quaneties the big players will buy for the contest, so the prices went down, alot.

There is so much needed for a car and the car factory production of cars is massive. On Realm2 5000 cars is needed to be in first and that is only because he makes his own.

i just got back into the game shortly after the new-years contest break started, was hoping to make some money on the upcoming contest but then it turned out to be cars lol, and about 25 of my buildings were on a 10 day expansion set each, was going to produce rubber but didn't see much of a market at the time, back a year or two ago this game would have BOOMED with market offers and undercutting competition, but this time around a-lot of people sat this one out, would have cost all my money from selling my 2 stat symbols to be in the top 100 just a few days after the starting of cars Q*1 R1, so i just stuck with my expansion.

hopefully after this Cars folly there will be a easier contest product for some of the more basic producers. if the next one is cabs then im gonna lock myself in the office, tell the secretary to hold my calls, and drink my bourbon. lol.

i agree that the car producers had an easier win then most of the other companies even with the time lost for resetting qualities.

Still better then the other contest that had NO showing of how many were sent in.

I have just noticed that to be Number1 on Realm2 is higher than Realm1. Usually you the other way round but on Realm2 alot of people that made cabriolets changed to cars. So basically this contest is better for the cabriolets industry than the travelling contest industry. Theoretically this was a good contest as nearly everything is needed to make a car but since the main producers already made them they just used there old supply chain. I will be happy when we go back to the old simple contests but still like the occasional twist.
