Animal Status Symbols

I have always thought animals were status symbols, are they? If so how can you have quality animal status symbols? Can other status symbols get higher quality? Is animal food involved?

PS. I have only recently become interested in score and have avoided it, so that is why I am now asking about them.

Animal food is involved with some of them, others (that I've gotten so far) eat Corn.

They are status symbols, at least they only show up in the "Status Store" part of the Warehouse.

Their quality is increased every time you feed them.
They need an increased amount of food of increased quality after every time you feed it.

Requirements:
Animal Shelter
Animal Food or Corn (Cats and Dogs eat Food while Mice and Fish eat Corn.)

Difference between Animal Feeding and Special Building Tasks:
Feeding Animals does not require more employees to get more tasks.
Feeding Animals does not require a 6 hour "waiting" period between tasks.
Feeding Animals does not increase your score.
Feeding Animals gets you on the Animal Quality Highscores.

if you dont feeed them what happens?

if you do feed them are they worth more points?

If you do not feed them nothing will happen. If you do feed them, you can become #1 on the ranking of either dogs, cats, mice or fish, but it does not increase your score...

If you can afford it, that is...

Look at the number of required animal food or corn of a certain quality it constantly rises...
