is it that in a normal account, buildings can only expand to 4000m2?

coz my building is now 50% optimized production and it is 2000m2

You can optimize a building every 400 workers, 4000m2. However, the max size on all Research Centers, Production Buildings, Retail Buildings and Special non-storage buildings is 32,767m2. Storage special buildings have a max size of 5000m2.

I have a question, why are some buildings sold with odd numbers? Does this raise the production any, without having to add another employee? I just haven't had the time to experiment with this yet.

Thanks!

Cheers

depends what you mean by odd numbers..
if you mean an odd size like 4965 m
maybe thats all the building materials they had
maybe he expanded by time to have it completed by a certain time
maybe they just felt like it
That missing 35m and 1 employee short lost about 10% production.
Its hard to calculate because different level have different increases when expanding buildings and even different products have different % increases from one building size to another.

what does optimizing a building mean?

When you optimize a building it's production is increased.

I'm not too sure by how much but it's between 5 and 10%

Ok, that's what I thought pk. I've seen some buildings on the market that were 3207m2. I was wondering if there was an advantage to the odd numbers.

Well that saves me from buying NPC steel and mining/making wood to find out. :)

Thanks pk, Canadian chef by day, Financial Mogul by night. :)

i have a question. does the production per time always increase as you expand the building? or once you reached fully optimized it no longer decrease time per unit? so about 4000m2 is the biggest a building should be?

Every time you level production will drop. It doesn't matter if the building is optimized. The two ways to raise your production are to hire new employees, which requires 10m2 for production buildings, and optimize each building, which requires 400 employees for each optimization.

In short, just keep expanding until you hit 32767m2. That is when you will max things out.

32767 is the max size for any production, retail, research or special task building.

how sad it is a regular int. i wish they would have used a long int. let us get bigger!! lol or not put a limit on it so the big players if they went over 32767 their buildings magically got an area of -32768! lol negative area! if only they let you go over it so the big players would lose buildings!!

and of course when you get to be a "big" player you will want that changed!!
