How do I start making wardrobes? Or should I?

Here is enough space for all players to ask questions about the game.

How do I start making wardrobes? Or should I?

Post by Guest » 05.10.2009, 02:19

At the current market price of WOOD, it's nearly impossible to make a profit at wardrobes with the prices most players ask for which is 2200 + 50 Q.

I want to start out making wardrobes, I have the following questions:
1. Will anyone buy Q0 wardrobes? I ask because I will not earn a good profit by building many more Furniture stores to sell my own wardrobes.
2. Is there a better alternative to making my own wood from 6 plantations to support 1 20m2 Joinery? The only alternative (profit-wise) I see is buying wood at 55 caps, which I think is unlikely.

3. And how do you recommend I should begin, disregarding all my ideas above.

If you are curious about what calculations I made about wardrobes, go here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key= ... GWEE&hl=en

4. Should I really make wardrobes? Is there an alternative you would like to recommend?

Build a technical RC and research wardrobes, expanding the RC as research time gets to 5 days or so. When you have researched wardrobes to 20 or 30, build joineries and make wardrobes from Q0 materials. If someone will buy your Q (5 or 7), sell to them, otherwise build furniture stores. Continue researching wardrobes and expanding the tech RC.

This strategy will last forever and these buildings are permanent.

he's talking about 20sqm joinery...
don't think he'll be able to expend a rc :)

This all takes place over time. You can get a startup stake by selling raw materials in the market, as described in many threads. Those buildings need not be permanent, as you can sell them to transition to making finished goods.

I would buy your wardrobes for 2200 caps for Q0, that would make you a little profit of around 160 caps per wardrobe.
( calculating with wood for 75, power for 0,17 steel for 135)
Not much for all your trouble.

If you can manage to research your wardrobes high enough you could make a good profit though selling them to others, like Strawman said, it is best when you use Q0 materials and still come out with a good quality wardrobe, but that will take some time.
Still, furnitureshops are better profit.

Or build yourself a furniture shop (in a red area) after you have earned some money by selling whatever and sell your stuff there at a decent price... At the beginning you will produce a lot more wardrobes than you can sell, but if you keep expanding the shop (or build another one as well), your facilities will reach a point where it/they cannot produce as much as you need (this happens at a point well after some k m

first - usual price is 2,400+60q and higher

second - you can sell these wardrobes in a furniturestore within full advertisement (40,000 points) in 48 hours at ~ 3,200

:D

Plus, when you sell em yourself, you do not have to pick them out your warehouse, once it has become a bit erm... lets call it stocked up...

But isn't that for a later time? To actually be able to use my stores properly, I will need to expand it a good hundred m2 dont you think?

Yes.
At least.

You can do both, really for a while - fill a small shop and sell all goods you have spare.

After a while you will surely find out, the spare number will get smaller and smaller the further you expand your shops (and fill em with adverts)...

Why ask a question when you allready know the answer??

Don't produce Q0 Wardrobes.

Like Strawman wrote, first build a Tech RC, research a decent level and only then start producing them.
Untill then Raw materials are the way to go.

This is the only way to succesfully produce Wardrobes.

You could even add some C&P RC to research Wood/Seeds if you want to produce your own wood.
Then start with selling the wood untill your Plantations are large enough and can support the RC, once your facilities are larger you start building Joineries and immediatly start producing Q10 Wardrobes or something near that Q.
Q30 wardrobes Research and Q10 wood productions isn't that difficult to get with a small RC on a limited size account.

Well, research and expansion (or whatever) needs to be paid for first, doesn't it?

Wardrobes Q0 might not be the bestseller for vendors, but a joinery can produce some goods, which are also bought (even Q0) at decent prices from the one or the other player...

It boils again down to supply and demand - just stop producing goods you seem to get no price to gain a decent profit...

Any particular reason why I have seen so many "Looking for high-Q-wardrobes"-faxes on R2 in the last 48 hrs?

Wardrobe Q brings more in shops than the 50 charged by suppliers.
