CCs are "rare" as they cannot be bought from the system like other status symbols are. That is why people buy them for more per point. (Plus more people compete for having the most contest points than having the most, for example, Gallery points.

What is the incentive for spending money on points? Is there one? or it is just "ahh, I am an awesome and huge corporation, I have money to waste so I will get some contest points."

People compete to be the highest in the scored categories.

Contest is one.

Now because Contest Certificates can only be won then sold they are rare, unlike other Status Symbols (that are used to gain a high score in a category) they cannot be bought via coins. So there will be a limited supply.

Around 125 per contest.
