quality?

Post by Guest » 22.09.2009, 08:30

hi guys,
sorry i still dont get it...
say if i want to produce beer of quality 5
it will depend on quality of corn and glass and q0 water...
that means if i do not research on beer, i can also produce beer of quality 5 if i have high quality corn and glass.
so why research on beer?

For beer the total quality achieved is the sum of all elements divided by 4
If you had corn quality of 10 and glass quality of 9 and beer quality at 0 this would give you quality 4 beer.

corn = 10
glass = 9
water = 0
beer = 0
total = 19/4 rounded down = 4

if you now research beer to Q1 the total of the inputs is equal to 20 giving you quality 5 beer.

also buying high quality input products can be more expensive than what you get with their increase of quality of output product, while researching will not be. whats more, you can only get like q20 or so of input products, with 3 components thats q60, but you can research say q60 and get out q120

It is also simpler to research your beer until you get the quality you need.
If you want Q4 beer you research the beer to Q16, and voila.
16/4=4.
All the ingredients needed to produce beer can then be Q0 which is ofter cheaper to buy and you don't have to calculate all the different qualities of the ingredients to reach the Q4 beer.

All though with beer it is rather a simple calculation, with cars it can be a pain because of all the parts you need to produce the car.

I'm afraid you are wrong there...

Usually Q0 is more expensive on the market compared to higher Q.

Mainly because people can't handle to many different Q levels in their warehouse.
Also many of the items are used for special building tasks and then again people need large amounts which are less difficult to find in Q0 compared to Q1-5.

So in short, very often Q0 is better business then Q1-5.
On R1 Q0 Chems is even more expensive then large offers of Q20-30.

That only aplies to products used for special building quests and contest (sub)products.
In R2 chemicals Q0 are definetly not more expensive then high quality chemicals.

Yeah, but R2 Chems are messy business :D
R1 is a bit more extreme, but in R2 also items like iron ore and coal are better sold at Q0 then Q1-3.

q 1-3 always sucks...
its easier get q0 item
and easier to use em... cuz there's bigger amount

but do research q1-3 everyone.

just set your quality in the factories to 0 until you have research about q10

Well that is right, ofcourse Q0 (sub)products for building materials are often more profitable to sell then Q1-Q10.
Only high Q will be more profitable in those products for then people will want to use them for other then building.
(Like the unevitable wardrobes..:roll: )
Q1 to 3 is actually nogood at all, it is either Q0 or high Q that makes profit there.

Exception to the rule might be if you have researched your endproduct to such a high quality that you can afford to buy cheap low quality subproducts and still end up with a high Q endproduct.

For beer however, using corn Q0 normally is cheaper then buying a higher Quality corn, except when there is a contest ofcourse.
