Research problem.

Post by Guest » 14.09.2009, 12:26

Hi. I'm new to the game and have problem with research. I have Cattle & Plant RC in France and I produce apples in Mauritania. I have reaserched my apples on level 1 (before I started production). Now I'm producing my apples, but their quality is still 0. Why? Do I need to bulid RC in a country where I want to produce things?

to produce apples you need seeds and water
so it calculates the total quality of things

seed Q + water Q + apple Q /3 = Q of apples you produce

btw, green... i won. :D

quality is calculated by adding qualities of all inputs (including apples research you conduct in your RC, in your case 1) and then dividing it by number of inputs and rounding it down. my guess is you have used seeds q0

apples quality 1 + seeds quality 0 + water quality 0
------------------------------------------------------------------- =0 (rounded down)
number of inputs (3)

Hi, and how I can research quality of water? as i understand its impossible. Raw materials can not be improved. Then quality of products depends only on seeds quality and in the beginning as newbies get free 10 000 seeds they can not produce things above Q0, we must first research seeds Q1, then produce own seeds on the plantation or buy on the market.

Yep, researching water power and stones is not possible.
Yet those are fastselling products because everybody needs it.
Wood can be researched but you would have to research it to a very high level in order to sell it.

I do not recommend researching apples except if you would do it for future contests.
with Q0 apples you can make applejuice Q0 (ofcourse you will have to add sugar to that as well), which players need for their special building quests.
Applejuice Q0 sells for a much higher price then higher qualities because of that.
For apple juice you would need a beveragefactory, other then to make applejuice and perhaps bottled cocoa Q0, (also a special building quest product) it is not very usefull though.

Research leather, wardrobes, glass, plastic, seeds, corn, oil, gas, televisions.
Those researches may come in handy when you decide to go into one of these businesses in the future.

But If you want to be involved in selling contestproducts then it is good to research as many products as you can until you can produce at least a Q4 product of each. :)

I did something similar to this. I had nothing to do yesterday so I started researching Q1 of some selected products of Plantation, Cattle-breeding and Fruit plantation. Figured it would help during contests.

What I did though is research seeds to Q3 to get Q1 seeds. I am currently doing the same to corn to be able to get Q1 corn, and eventually Q1 of meat/dairy products.

I discovered that its not necessary to make researches urself, and buy research centers and spent money and time for research and blabla. for example, i buy corn q10-13 , which is even lower price then Q0. Then with q0 backgrounds of my own i can produce cattles Q3-Q4, that eventually give beef q1.

For fruits it will not work i guess.

I'd rather feel in control of my own production and keep prices low than feel dependant on the market.
I am currently waiting for a contract to be accepted, which determines whether or not I can keep going. Big mistake, so I have decided to be less dependant on the market to get what I need.

Also, if you do not research yourself you might find that when there is a contest that requires for example Corn, the price of Corn will go up drastically.
