How much does it cost to produce 1 kg of steel of quality 0?

Is there a list somewhere when you can see how much every producy costs to produce?

Go to help menu ingame, that will help you to calculate cost of steel and other products as well

Incorrect my friend. He can make profit but its low profit. Every product makes profit, but it always depends on how much it makes.

Well, actually ye, there is some profit but it's utterly small, whereas other raw materials make profit big time

In that help menu there is a list of every product from a to z with the ingredients. All you have to do is to take a calculator and calculate

Looks like steel production materials are making a huge drop in the market.

With iron ore and coal at 7 each making a profit gets a lot less difficult.
Also chems are very low compared to several months ago.

Looks like many people noticed steel is crappy business, or demand has just dropped a lot in R1.

You include the cost of materials in your productioncost.
Cost of materials = usually considered around current marketprice so you won't get a false figure when calculating profit.

edit: and ofcourse there is the productioncost of the factory itself that you can see inside the factory.
Is that what you mean?

Steel, factory in red 6000m2.
Required: 2 kg Iron ore 5 kg Coal 0.5 kg Chemicals 200 kWh Power
Production costs: 19,60

For me the problem lies in the production ratios between stone and iron/coal/minerals. Its more profitable to produce stones for 20ea than it is to make coal for the prices you were talking about. We need a higher output in these areas if there is a hope of making the steel industry viable again.
