R2 beginner retailing?

Post by Guest » 14.06.2009, 23:51

Hey i am coming back to kapilands after a while and I used to play on realm 1. Now... I created an account in realm 2 and i want to play as a retailer. I see lots of profit in retailing especially since i started using ms excel to calculate the best price for a certain product to be sold

however... yesterday i was looking at pullovers that can be sold in textile store. I calculated the profit/day to be approximately 45K per day which is really good. However, when i came back this morning to buy some pullovers in the market... all the good prices were gone. The prices are now 3 or 4 times what number i used to calculate the profit.

Ofcourse, now i have to sell my retail stores and probably restart my profile. So do you advice me to do retailing? And if so what products? Stuff like leather jackets, wardrobes, and gasoline are already high in quality and high in number. Stuff like that seem hard to sell in my opinion, even if i made my own leather jackets or made my own wardrobes.

And is it better to make my own products? For instance, if i was to make leather jackets, i would just build a textile factory and buy the resources needed to make leather jackets there. Then I can sell it in the retail store.

any advice is appreciated

I would produce your own leather jackets, it should be profitable even with a low Q.

Just remember to price your Jackets correctly I think 800 + 50Q still applies as a good transfer price.

For example

Right now I can get
Textiles Q 14 for 300c
Leather Q 24 for 400c
Add in about 100 for power and production costs

and for 800c you have Q9 jackets.

okay ill try to sell leather jackets... But i doubt i can get 45k per day making my own leather jackets then selling them in the store. I will calculate the profits when i can reset my account again lol.

Well you could also try making your own pullovers.

Pullovers are a small market, I would know. However, you can still make a very good profit being 100% textile retail.

Go in this order: (Buy from contracts or the market.)
Leather Jackets
Pullovers
Leather Gloves

Running up to all three, if needed, you can make a very nice profit. ;)

u see my problem is not that i dont know they are profitable. My problem is that i am unable to buy from the market and i doubt anyone will contract me such a small amount of leather jackets. The market is very doubtful since one day u get good prices and the next day there are no offers listed.

I wud also take any suggestions u have for other products like apples or oranges? Maybe beer. Im thinking simple products or products i will always find on the market.

Ofcourse people will contract you leather jackets even if it is a small amount.
Try nnas, he sells good quality leather jackets.
And if you can't get any, send me a message ingame and I will produce them especially for you. :D

Beer?
Terrible, sells bad.
Fruit?
Well they sell on the market but not very fast, and then I am talking higher qualities.

i suggest if your new you shouldnt retail- rather sell to other players... grow bigger and then start retailing it sure has profits but you should stil not jump into it directly its really good when you expand it above 1000 or something

well i know at lower levels other things are slightly more profitable but i want to retail just for the fun of it. I have large plantations on my realm 1 account. So realm 2 will be my retailing account.

@sally

ok is nnas his company name? I will shoot him a message later about buying like 100 leather jackets.

Anything at 800 caps or below is fine. Thats how much it takes for me to build a textiles workshop and produce leather jackets myself...

Yes.
You can also find him on the sell or buy section in this forum, he has ads there.

I plan to do a fair bit of retailing in R3, however I think it is a good idea to back that up with at least one strong product (To sell in My own retail chain of course).

Planning 2 of every store (One expanding, one selling) which leaves room for My main product manufacturing plus maybe a few secondary products. That way even if the market gets a little expensive I still have 'something' to sell :)
