Yes more scientiets/workers. One employee can be hired each 10m^2
More scientists means faster resarch and more workers means faster production/higher output per hour.
As you only have a limited number of building slots (60 - 100 with a premium account) expanding is later the only possibility to further increase your production-rates.
PS: When you build a new building it is 20m^2 big but only one employee is hired, so you can directly hire a second one. Don't forget to do this once the building is finished.
