Research increases product quality, which when a product is higher quality it will sell for higher value.

Quality = Seeds (Quality 0) + Water (Quality 0)
Total: 0/2 = 0

i researched seeds to Q3 , still my plantation refuses to use it. where/how do i chose what quality of seeds i want ?

U can get higher quality for product by doing research and per 2 research u get 1Q so 4 research is 2Q and raw material such as Stones, Steel, Wood, Power, Water and Seeds. And you can use higher quality for 0Q product or so but its likely to be not worth it.

you need to set the seed quality next to where you hire employees at the plantation.
